Truck ownership in general seems to encourage reckless towing. Just because your truck is rated to tow 11k-30K lbs does not mean it should or more importantly you are qualified to do so.

Are you qualified to tow with your Hemi?!

Nope. And while I use my truck as a truck, it gets dirty, it gets scratches and dents and yes it even tows, I do not ever tow anywhere near its upper limits.

So I'm assuming if the Titan gets the 5.0 Cummins then they will offer an HD version like a 2500? Its already got a 9500lb towing rating so figure well over that with the Cummins. That'd be awesome but prefer the look of the Tundra over the Titan so hopefully Toyota gets going..

What I'd really like to see though is the Armada with that option. I'd love a full size suv with that motor.

Default Last Spy Call for 2016 Nissan Titan Before Detroit Debut

Click here to view more photos

Better late than never for Nissan's Titan full-size pickup truck that will get a second chance in life after kicking around for a decade in one of the most competitive segments in North America.

With the new generation, Nissan will try to tackle one of the current' model's biggest problems, the lack of powertrains by introducing a new Cummins-supplied 5.0-liter V8 diesel producing over 300hp and 500 lb-ft of peak torque, in addition to a gasoline-fed V8.

There has been talk for a much-needed V6 gasoline unit at the lower end of the range, but that's not expected to happen straight away.

The zebra-camouflaged tester caught by our spy shooters is a four-door crew cab model, but the lineup is believed to include extended cab and regular cab configurations as well.

There's not much we can tell about its appearance from these photos other than it will have the usual brawny look we've come to expect from trucks this size with an even bigger front grille.

Nissan will also bring the Titan's interior and available technology features up to date.

A world premiere is scheduled for the Detroit Motor Show in January.

Titan should enjoy a nice buzz from this revised model. They need to keep it fresh though and not let it get stale this time around

Default All-New 2016 Nissan Titan Video Teaser Shows 5.0-liter V8 Diesel

We get it Nissan – you plan to debut the second-gen Titan truck at the Detroit motor show and it's going to have a new Cummins-built 5.0-liter V8 turbodiesel.

We knew that because you've already told us before on more than one occasion, which kind of defeats the purpose of these trivial teaser portraits and video that show us nothing of interest…

The next Titan full-size pickup truck will get in line with the Detroit 3's major players in the segment offering a more masculine look and new tech and comfort features from Nissan's passenger car range.

The new Cummins V8 diesel that will deliver at least 300hp and 500 lb-ft of torque will join a gasoline-fed V8 and possibly a V6 as well.

Default 2016 Nissan Titan teased, debuts January 12th [video]

http://www.worldcarfans.com/11501078...ary-12th-video

The North American International Auto Show is less than a week away, so it comes as little surprise that Nissan has released the second installment of their Truckumentary.

Designed to promote the 2016 Titan, the video features Nissan's Rich Miller who talks about the people who helped to design, test and develop the upcoming pickup.

While he doesn't reveal much about the truck itself, Miller says it has been designed to look "strong" and "durable." He also says the 5.0-liter Cummins turbodiesel V8 engine - that develops more than 300 bhp (223 kW) and 550 lb-ft (744 Nm) of torque - will deliver a blend of fuel efficiency and performance.

More importantly, the video gives us our best look at the upcoming model. As you can see, it features a massive grille, large headlights and plenty of chrome trim. The truck also has a rounded front bumper and a tailgate with an integrated rear spoiler.

It looks BIG! I'm excited to see this new Titan.

Detroit has been so strong lately with the Ram and F-150... a new Titan helps people to think outside of the Big 3 for trucks

I probably stated it earlier in this thread, but I wish Ford would throw a diesel in the F-150.

Default Nissan Debuts V8 Diesel-Powered 2016 Titan in Detroit

After incessantly teasing the 2016 Titan with videos and photos, Nissan has finally revealed its all-new pickup at the Detroit auto show. Along with it, the manufacturer is also announcing the availability of a 5.0-liter Cummins V8 diesel engine that it says allows the model to “carve out a new class of full-size truck between current heavy-duty and light-duty offerings.”

The model variation they chose to unveil is the XD, which is positioned above conventional half-ton trucks, but below something like a Chevy Silverado 2500. It’s the first one to go on sale, but as you’d imagine, multiple variations will follow – this is, after all, a completely redesigned model, so they’re making the most of it and adding more versions along the line.

The 5.0-liter V8 turbo diesel engine makes 310 hp and 555 lb-ft or 752 Nm and grants the XD a towing capacity of 12,000 lbs. The engine will be exclusively available in the XD model, but it will be complimented by the V6 and V8 petrol alternatives that will power other versions.

Aside from its new design and engine, the Titan also sports a lot of electronics onboard too. Stuff like a rear-view camera with trailer guides, surround-view system (with moving object detection capability) and a Trailer Light Check system can be specified, as can blind spot warning and a Rear Sonar System.

That’s pretty much it as far as release information goes. Keep in mind that the model in the photos below is the crew cab, with king cab and other variations coming after launch.

Wow, that looks horrible! It is as if a Ram, F150 and Tundra had some horrible test tube baby. I bet the engine will be stellar but it won't save this ugly duck.
