Odd.

I wouldn't jump to conclusions about the cause of the fire.

Good to hear D. Van Dyke is o.k. He looks very sprite for being 87 and escaping the fire.

Watched the video clip. Looks as if he was driving a newer model wife too . The caption did say he was picked up at the scene by his wife.

Phil is correct. 40 years ago, with the old Lucas electronics, the old joke about a reliable Jag was one that caught fire only once on a coast-to-coast trip. That was a different age, though, different time, and, of course, different electronics. Ford's buyout, decades ago, vastly increased Jaguar quality, though today, even with Tata's ownership, they still don't rank among the more reliable cars.

Anyhow, glad that Van Dyke is OK. I used to watch his TV sit-com (with Mary Tyler Moore) when I was a kid.

Didn't Ford have issues with ignition switches causing fires? Could be the same supplier's switches considering the corporate history for that "British" brand.

BTW, do you know how the British said good bye to Jaguar when it was sold?

I came up with that one a long time ago....but, since you probably didn't see it at the time, I'll give you credit for that one here yourself. BTW, Tata ownership also includes Land-Rover.

Take all the Internet credit you want. I probably ran into this one somewhere on the net too, circa 2009.

One of my coworker was a stuck up brit, so I rubbed his nose into that one for a while.

Considering that this incident almost caused someone's gruesome death, I think even a so-called "stuck-up brit" might have some feelings of remorse....so I wouldn't rub his nose in it; he probably feels bad enough already . Sometimes we just have to treat people like we would want them to treat us back.

What the heck are you talking about?

Way to go off topic first on a simple joke and then carry on as if you were back on the original topic. I was talking about rubbing the brit's nose on the fact that Jaguar was sold to a company from their ex-colony, twice, I might add.

Now get back on topic, about D.V.D. almost getting burned.
