Most speculation is that the 4RX will debut at NY Autoshow in April and then be available Summer so maybe June/July

Which V8 is new? Surely you're not talking about the rc-f v8, thats just a rework of the is-f's old v8 which its self is a rework of the old 4.6

you need to read more about it, it is technologically most advanced V8 in the world.

I don't know much about the RC-F, but what makes it the most technologically advanced V8?

i am sure same tech will go into LC500, so not just RC-F. Main thing is new D4-S dual port/direct injection with 2611psi pressure and new vvt-iE with atkinson cycle support.

It makes heavy RC-F more efficient than turbo I6 in M4, without any harm to driveability.

This is cornerstone of new engine technology from Toyota, going into their "new" V6 as well as bigger 4cly engines (bigger than 1.0l). No other manufacturer has this right now.

So powerful and efficient at the same time, no need for "downsizing" when it gets better emissions/mpg than state of the art downsized engines.

Toyota has announced plans earlier in 2014 to introduce 18 new engines with these technologies by the end of the 2015... So far they started with 1.0l KR series, 1.3 NR in Japan as well as UR in RC-F. Next step would be GR and ZR in 2015.

New or redesigned parts include:
Cylinder heads and cam covers
Crankshaft: crank pin diameter, connecting rod big-end bearing size and crank counter-weight size are all reduced, to reduce reciprocating weight
Crank main bearings and caps
High-strength forged connecting rods
Pistons and piston rings
Titanium inlet and exhaust valves
Intake manifold and throttle body
Redesigned Variable Valve Timing-intelligent Electric motor (VVT-iE)
Revised Lexus D-4S dual injection system
Four-into-one exhaust headers and heat insulators
Oil pan and baffle plate
Alternator clutch system
Engine and transmission oil coolers
Spark plugs

Digging Into the Metal
The new cylinder heads improve the 2UR-GSE engine’s breathing with improved porting and a high-flow/high tumble ratio. In addition, intake surge-tank capacity has been optimized, as have the intake manifold runner length and diameter.
The new oil pan baffle shape reduces agitation and hence friction, while new air-to-oil coolers for the engine oil and transmission fluid increase track suitability.
The Lexus D-4S dual-injection system has been redesigned, with higher injection pressure of 2,611 psi and improved fuel atomization.
The throttle diameter was increased by 10 percent, from 3 to 3.3 inches (84 mm).
A new intake camshaft profile increases valve lift and suits the Atkinson cycle, while improvements to the electronic VVT-iE system have expanded its range of operation for increased fuel economy and performance.
New four-into-two exhaust headers help reduce interference and hence further improve engine breathing. The larger-diameter exhaust system is designed to reduce backpressure and sound amazing, especially under acceleration. At the same time, the main muffler keeps things from getting too rowdy at lower speeds.
As a final touch, the new 2UR-GSE engine has a one-way clutch on the alternator pulley.

How about the 2AR and 8AR in the NX?

What technologies do you think will go into the new GR?

Consistent sales of 2,000+ GXs a month is really pretty remarkable considering that it's sold with only one engine and full-time 4X4. The bulk of X5s and other competitors are sold with V6s or only as V6s, and many are also 4X2.

While I know that decreasing gas prices are helping the sales of SUVs in general (and less fuel efficient vehicles), I still think that 2k a month for GX is impressive. If Lexus offered a V6 model as well as a 4X2 option, I've got to believe that sales would be well over 3k units a month.

Maybe keeping GX as V8 4X4 only helps to open a spot for the TX - 2WD, base V6, etc.
