Would be WOEFULLY underpowered, to the point of being nearly incapable of moving. The current limo is not a car at all, but is actually a Kodiak medium-duty commercial truck with a custom DTS-styled sheetmetal wrapped around it. With 8" thick armor plating and 5" thick bulletproof glass, it weighs over 20,000 lbs, and stands nearly six feet tall.

With that kind of weight, the only powerplant that will get the job done is a commercial-grade diesel engine, and the beast has a 6.5L Duramax to provide its motive power. Even so, it's massive heft limits this config to just 8mpg and a 0-60 time of around 15 seconds.

I'm all for freshening the exterior, but it's gotta keep true to its purpose.

I guess an armored personnel carrier just looks too ungainly and not befitting the CEO of America Corp.

Personally this is my favorite presidential limo. It still looks like the big old Cadillac Fleetwood it was based. If only I had the $$$$ back in 2008, I so would've bought it.



As for a replacement limo, you need to see what's going on in the medium duty truck market to make a prediction there. I'm sure they will all be made like the current "beast" in the future, I just cannot see them going back to a car based limo because you can't put that much armor on it.

I actually like the idea of the Commander in Chief riding in a stretched LS edition limo. This would tell the American people that he actually supports the foreigners in this way as well. Maybe this would justify all the money we have sent elsewhere outside this country.
