That's not the only aspect though. Overall the 3IS is a good improvement like the technology, flexability (60/40 seats), space, and handling prowess. Design is subjective so we have to leave that out. But the major downgrade is the material quality (not to be confused with the assembly). Essentially it boils down to this: The 2IS is the better LUXURY SPORT SEDAN, the 3IS is the better SPORT LUXURY SEDAN.

The previous IS350 had a nice 4.083 differential which allowed it to have that strong acceleration.
So the 3IS gained weight and got longer gearing LOL which is why it's not as fast as the 2IS
