"Something Coming Real Soon on 4Runner"
At this morning's 2014 Highlander reveal, Bill Fay, group VP and general manager for the Toyota division, discussed Toyota's continued product onslaught and mentioned "...something coming real soon on 4Runner..."
Something about the verbiage used piqued my interest so I asked around, and while I can't confirm it, there is some talk that a V8 might come back to the 4Runner. Evidently, owners who tow frequently or use the SUV for heavier duty are not satisfied with the V6 and find it to be underpowered. Whether this means that a larger, new V6 will be introduced or perhaps a V8 will be dropped under the hood, I am not sure and can't confirm. I would assume that any powertrain updates will also be accompanied by interior and exterior changes. A new 6+spd auto would be nice, too.

While I would love a V8 and big changes (I had a 2003 Sport V8, first year available!), I doubt any mechanical changes on 4Runner. It's likely a mild refresh - fascia and some interior improvements.

There will be no V8 in the 4Rrunner, it will not happen.
Things I can see happening:
1. LED daytime lamps on limited models
2. Mild front end change
3. Possible IRS on rear
4. 6 speed automatic
