I've only seen two thus far. Both black GT's. One of which was driven by a bombshell blonde

Default The Other 2015 Shelby Mustang GT has a 627HP Supercharged V8 [w/Video]

It must be great to be a Mustang fan these days, as you have more choices than you can shake a stick at, from Ford's entry models to the Shelby GT350 and GT350R, and now, Shelby itself has something for you.

Shelby American, a subsidiary of Carroll Shelby International Inc., presented their new 2015 Shelby GT based on the V8-powered Mustang GT at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction.

For a starting price of $39,995 over the price of a regular 2015 Mustang GT that has with an MSRP of $32,300 which brings the total to a $72,295 (in reality less, as no one pays MSRP), you can get a 627hp supercharged Mustang. Mind you, Shelby states that it will retain all take-off parts, so you won't be able to make any money from any components.

At the heart of the conversion is Ford's stock 5.0-liter V8, which with the help of an upgrade kit that includes a supercharger and Ford Racing Borla exhaust and half shafts, pushes out 627-horses. Shelby also offers a 700hp optional performance upgrade.

The program enhances the Mustang's handling with upgraded shocks, springs and sway bars, a Wilwood six-piston front brake system, plus new 20-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Michelin tires size 275/35 front and 305/30 rear. Gearing has been upgraded (3.73 gears) and paired with a short show shifter for the manual gearbox model (you can also get the Shelby GT with an automatic).

Shelby dresses the exterior of the Mustang with a carbon fiber kit that includes the hood, front splitter, side skirts, rear deck lid and spoiler, and mirror caps, along with special stripes, a faux gas cap and billet aluminum upper and lower front grilles.

On the inside, you'll find Shelby-branded headrests, door sills and floor mats, and a carbon fiber dash pod.

“The 2015 Shelby GT is a nicely balanced muscle car that does everything well, whether on the track or on the drag strip” said Gary Patterson, Shelby American Vice President of Strategic Sales and Media Relations. “This post-title program takes performance to extreme levels. At the same time, the styling is sleek yet uniquely American with touches from Shelby history."

Interesting fact my friend told me about the fact that the 2015 Mustang has a flat-plane crank shaft rather than a traditional cross plane crankshaft. The flat-plane configuration is traditionally a Ferrari trademark and has some sort of clear performance advantage.

FPC can rev higher since theres less rotating mass compared to a traditional 90 deg crank. Drawback is reduced low end torque and less smoothness because of its less frequent firing sequence. It has cylinders every 180 degress instead of 90 like a traditional V8 crank

I believe that only applies to the GT350 and the 5.2L not the standard 5.0.

Default 2016 Ford Shelby Mustang GT350R Revs For The Public

One of the stars of the 2015 NAIAS was without a doubt, the new Shelby GT350R, looking menacing and promising hardcore performance to those in need of a track-ready muscle car.

When you're buying such a car, one thing that makes a big difference is the soundtrack. You want that threatening exhaust note that terrorizes Priuses at night.

We've heard the all-new Ford GT sound fast, and now thanks to subaruwrxfan, it's time to hear the Shelby GT350R's low pitched growling, which is a thing of beauty. It sounds a little like an AMG Merc but even meaner. Maybe similar to a Maserati Gran Turismo MC Stradale. It's downright fierce!

And why shouldn't it be? It's Ford's most powerful naturally aspirated production engine ever. A 5.2 liter V8 with over 500 hp and over 400 lb-ft of torque making that noise is worth admiring, especially since we don't even get to hear it revved very hard.

Hopefully we'll soon get to not only hear it in all it's glory but see it on the move, and especially find out exactly how much power and torque it carries - because the Camaro Z/28 called and it's running out of patience.

Until then, this small teaser will have to quench our thirst for V8 symphonies.

Default First Retail Shelby GT350R Mustang Sold for $1 Million at Scottsdale Auction

Fresh from its debut at the Detroit Auto Show, the first retail production Shelby GT350R model carrying VIN#001 has raised $1 million for charity at Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale 2015 auction.

Ford donated all proceeds to JDRF, the country’s leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes research. The winning bidder will be able to option the car with any available colors and packages.

The most track-ready road-going production Mustang ever built, the Shelby GT350R features aerodynamic and suspension upgrades, as well as lightweight materials – it is more than 130 lbs (59kg) lighter than the Shelby GT350 Track Pack model.

The GT350R is powered by Ford’s first-ever production V8 with a flat-plane crankshaft, which is also the most powerful naturally aspirated engine Ford has ever produced. The unit delivers more than 500hp and over 400lb-ft (542Nm) of torque.

Styling-wise, the GT350R features distinct details such as the red painted brake calipers, racing stripes, Shelby GT350R badging plus carbon fiber wheels, a large front splitter and a rear wing. The cabin has high-contrast red stitching, more Shelby badging and a D-shaped sports steering wheel.

The limited-production Shelby GT350R will be available in the US and Canada later this year.

Default 2016 Shelby GT350R Allegedly Laps 'Ring in 7:32.19, 5 Sec Faster Than Camaro Z/28

Let's get right to it: citing an insider, Horsepower Kings claims the 2016 Shelby GT350R has recorded a staggering 7:32.19 lap time around the Nurburgring. If confirmed (and take this with a grain of salt), it will make the Shelby GT350R more than five seconds faster over the Camaro Z/28's 7:37.40 lap time.

In fact, the alleged 2016 Shelby GT350R lap time would also be a full second faster than the 997 Porsche 911 GT3 RS MKII. Would you have believed me if I told you Ford would create a production Mustang that would outpace the greatest naturally aspirated Porsche 911?

Official 2016 Shelby GT350R specs are not available at this time, but early speculations believe the GT350R will use the same 5.2-liter flat-plane-crank V8 motor as the standard Shelby GT350 and will make identical power as well. However, the beauty of the GT350R is derived from its upgraded aero, handling, and weight loss.

The GT350R package will offer unique exterior details including an extended front splitter as well as a large carbon fiber rear wing. However, the party piece of the GT350R package is undoubtedly the bespoke carbon fiber wheels. According to Ford engineers, the carbon fiber wheels save 13 pounds of unsprung weight over its aluminum alloy equivalent. Each.

The 2016 Shelby GT350R also offers an aluminum rear bumper beam and more aggressive performance chassis tuning as standard equipment. These are only available on the standard GT350 when trimmed with the optional Track Package. The Shelby GT350R also boasts drive mode selection, MagneRide magnetic dampers, increased spring rates, a lower ride height, wider front track, and cooling upgrades for the engine, transmission, and differential. Stopping power is provided by mighty 6-piston Brembo brakes that bite into enormous 15.5-inch carbon ceramic rotors.

For all the extras that the GT350R offers, the super-Mustang will lose creature comforts including air conditioning, rear seats, audio system, and trunk lining. All in all, the 2016 Shelby GT350R will be 130 pounds lighter than the standard GT350.

Ford has yet to confirm the 7:32.19 Nurburging lap time, but the Shelby GT350R is undoubtedly the best road-racing focused production Mustang the American carmaker has ever created.

What are your thoughts on the claimed GT350R lap time? Let us know in the comment section below!

Here's the versions I'm keeping an eye out on so-far:
- Shelby GT350 manual (because American Flat Plane)
-Shelby GT 700 HP Supercharged automatic

I won't bother with the GT350R because I would never ever buy a car that has no air conditioning (especially since we're in the 21st Century)

***READ***
Please do not read Horsepower Kings Blog. They claimed the V8 is dead after 2017 (which is a blatant lie) and now they are claiming Nurburgring times for the GT350R. This shady blog spreads false "news" to get clicks so they get money. Here is the official word from Ford regarding the GT350R lap time. Always check your sources before spreading the wrong info.

I'm still trying to get used to the new Mustang's front end but I must admit that the new Shelby is a beast!
