What is the appeal of a gray interior?
I cannot stand the color and I am perplexed at how it can be appealing to someone.
I kmow everyone likes whatever they like, but gray is just bad.
Even worse is when it is gray on gray.

Gray is a neutral color. Somewhat like Tan.
I personally don't understand how some folks like Black as an interior color. I understand if you live in colder climates, it's fine, but when you live in the hottest parts of the US, a black interior is asking for a burn.
Personally, I have a gray interior and I'm fine with it. My old SC had a tan one, also was fine with it. If I wanted a 'different' color, I'd love saddle. That color just kicks ***.

I hate it as well
Lexus offered it in the GX without a black option where made me say wtf? The lexus black leather \ wood combo they offer is an awesome match and they made it so dull, thankfully the new GX has the nice black \ wood combo!

For me it was two things. I wanted smokey granite mica exterior color. The dealer had one with gray interior. So I bought it.
Not my favorite but acceptable in this case. Not too big of a deal for me.

I'm not a fan of gray interior myself, but it's a solid choice in between the heat of black interior and the hard to clean white. Some people like black cars with black interior, white with white, and of course gray with gray is becoming more prevalent on cars these days. I have noticed that gray interior doesn't attract as much attention if your front windows are tinted. A few of my friends have gray interior and moderate VLT % on the front windows (30-45), and honestly, it doesn't appear as if their fronts are tinted, which makes it more appealing compared to the same window tint with black interior.

yep - IMO, black looks best but it IS hotter than lighter colors in hot climates.
Black is a MUST for real sports cars like Corvette/911/etc...
BMW Saddle Brown Dakota Leather is a nice alternative....

Exactly, I remember when buying my 2004 Camry, could only get black leather on the SE, not the XLE. And i think gray leather is ugly, so i just went to cloth.

Why do you like the fact that they are not available any more? IMO, it smacks of cost-cutting...just like a lot of the other decontenting in today's cars (manual hood prop-rods, no spare tires, no body-side mouldings, etc...). It was nice, years ago, to have a choice of something else besides beige/ivory, gray, and black, like you have today. The cars I learned to drive on, for example, usually came with five or six different interior colors (including blue/green/red, and sometimes two-tone) and usually at least a dozen exterior colors (sometimes two dozen).
