I think my next car in the '14 model year will be a GS.
I really like the A6 and 5 Series and don't keep a car long but it's hard for me to get away from a Lexus.

For example everyone that has met me knows I'm a big guy so when I say headroom is fine on both they are fine on both.
A lot depends on torso vs. leg length. I'm a couple inches shorter than you are (6' 2" vs. 6' 4"), and, especially with my cap, find the headroom marginal or inadequate with the UL package in the rear. If one has long legs, of course, and a shorter torso, then headroom will not be as much of a problem as legroom.

Kind of, I now work in Lexus customer service, and get to drive new and old ES, CT and RX every day..

Basically the handling, it feels more 'alive" I do not feel a big change in ride, it is still very comfortable on the highway at 80 mph..

personally, this new ES looks a lot more luxurious to me, inside and out... I dont think I would get previous ES, it just didnt look like real Lexus to me... ride or no ride, handling or no handling...
