Thats true Aron, A jeep and a 200 series Toyota are in a different class!

The LC200 is more luxurious and comfortable and the build quality is miles ahead while the Jeep is more utilitarian and made for the trails.
The modern cruisers are really good expedition vehicles specially the ones sold overseas with no extra gizmos.

Over seas you get the 70 series LC which would give the jeep a run for its money and in my opinion is a better vehicle for off road use.

The 200 series is available over seas with a Rear Locker option.

Please guys don't turn this into an FJ vs 200 series thread.

They both serve a purpose.

The Fj is better for the trails stock, the 200 series is a luxury/family off road capable expedition vehicle which is used world wide by the UN and the vehicle of choice for armoring companies.

Overall i consider the Land Cruiser the best 4wd made by Toyota, because it is an all round vehicle that combines the best of everything and is available in any different trims and options.

The Land Cruiser 200 series ( Luxury/Off road capable)

Land Cruiser 70 series (Work horse/Utilitarian old school 4wd) < This can be equipped with front + rear lockers.

Land Cruiser 150 ( cheaper version of the 200 series and slightly smaller aka as the Lexus GX in the US )

Toyota classifies the 200 series as heavy duty and the 70/150 as medium light duty vehicles.

Check my comment i just updated it with the entire LC range.

The fact is there is no debate or argument here, The Fj is better in stock form for trails, and the 200 series is a completely different vehicle which serves a different purpose but is still off road capable. The 200 is like the Lexus LS of Toyota suvs, but deep down its still a rugged/durable/capable 4WD.

Even a Tacoma 4WD or 4Runner with their locking differentials will go farther. For me, the best Toyota 4WD is a Toyota Tacoma 4WD short box crew cab.

The best Toyota 4WD is the Land Cruiser 70 series now that is a fact

If your talking about the ones sold in the states i would still pick a Land Cruiser 200 but that is just my opinion. Everyone is entitled there own opinion and in the end they are all Toyota's.

Not for me, for me the Tacoma can haul 4-5 in decent comfort, has cloth seats which work for me, has 4WD, a rear locking differentail as an option, has good safety features, 4 banger motor which get 20 MPG combined and most importantlY I get to put whatever I want in the rear cargo box. I can even enclose the bed if I want to. I can't do all of the above with a Land Cruiser in North America.

.

Buyers of a LC200 will be of a different age group and demographic group compared to those who are buying a Tacoma.

A completely different market.

The average LC buyer will not even consider looking at a Tacoma, and those who are committed to owning an LC will not care much for the fuel consumption.

Each of these vehicles is great for doing what they are made for.

The Taco is better out of the box for the trails, and its cheaper to run and is more economical.

The 200 has a superior drive train and chassis ( Axle/suspension ). Better build quality, fit and finish and is more comfortable with more room inside. It is also safer and more powerful.

Well, as far as dedicated off-road 4WD systems go, yes, an argument can be made that the Land Cruiser/LX570 system is one of the best, if not the best. But, if you are talking car-based, center-differential AWD designed primarily for on-pavement, mild off-road, or bad-weather use, Subaru clearly wrote the book on that subject.

Come on LexusCTjill and i was just about to say that i was enjoying sharing my views with you.

Don't twist my words. i said its better for the trails you should have added that in your quote. Its not a better 4wd vehicle overall. Being the ultimate 4wd is not only about going on the trails and wheeling, its also about being robust, built to the highest level, combining the highest levels off offroad technology and engineering ( Chassis, axle/suspension/drivetrain)Overall the LC200 is beefier and it would make a better expedition touring vehicle. There is different types of off roading You can keep this going all you want, fact is we will not change our views. You will just have to accept my opinion and move on. I mean after all its Toyotas flagship 4wd.
Toyota themselves call the LC200 the KING OF 4WD

I do not agree with you, both have their purposes, both do what they were intended to do. I just find that the Tacoma 4WD is the better 4WD Toyota, at least for me.

I respect your opinion just like you respect mine.
It appears we have reached cross roads, and we can't really take this any further without going over the same points we have mentioned.

We can both agree on one thing, with a Toyota 4wd you can never really go wrong
