Just one of many such resources on the internet. KBB and NADA also have values, also do a search for similar used cars selling in your area.

Hit up KBB for a more accurate book value price. Just based on what you said, i checked it out, KBB offers it at $5,077 for very good condition but IDK what other options your car is in as well as what kind of condition its in. Also accidents and maintence needed tends to devalue it. 5k is a good starting point on what to expect when you sell

I agree that KBB is a good source for many potential deals...but, unless your car is in pristine condition, many dealerships are hesitant to give you the full trade-in value. They often try and come up with an excuse why KBB doesn't apply to them....or, if they do give you the full value, then inflate the price of the new car some to compensate.

Still, it's usually safer and less-risky to do your buisness at a dealership rather than deal with strangers coming to your home for a test-drive and (maybe) carjacking your vehicle......that actually happened to a friend of mine some years ago. The dealership also has a Notary-Public and other means of simply doing DMV-required paperwork that you would otherwise probably have to do yourself.

Car Max will also often buy your old car even if you don't buy a new one from them. You might see what tey would offer you. Though dealing (mostly) in used vehicles, they operate just like a new-car dealer, with Notary Publics and DMV-certfication.

BMW 2002tii's are rare--2002 IS300's are not. You are not going to be able to take advantage, price wise, of the fact that not many of this car had that build configuration--certainly not with 146k miles.
