Motorweek's John Davis Drives a New Verano

I know John Davis casually, though he is not really a close friend of mine. Motorweek's HQ is not very far away....in Owings Mills, MD. I see him at some local auto shows (particularly the big D.C. auto show each January), and we chat. It's nice, though, to see him check out something I just bought.....that doesn't happen very often.

John's a nice guy, though, and quite down-to-earth............I like him, and take his automotive opinions seriously. He doesn't tend to be snooty like some auto-journalists.

I would have titled the thread MotorWeek drives the new Verano :D

...but anyway....good review...good looking car IMO, but why no backup cam available?

Motor Week video guys need to stop with their ZOOM IN ZOOM OUT thing they love to do tho....

Good review but John Davis probably rarely does any actually test driving.

He is more of a narrator than a test driver.

In recent years they've added comments from the test drivers after some selected tests.

omg that zoom in/out stuff nearly made me want to vomit.

Nice car though. :)

Yep, it handles. It definitely is not Grandpa's Buick in the chassis-department, but it has the traditional Buick refinement and noise-level.

I've met him a number of times. He's a nice down-to-earth guy, and doesn't exibit some of the snobbishness that some other auto-journalists do.

Has Motorweek ever panned a car? Whenever I've seen it, it always sounded more like an infomercial rather than a critical review.

I've never heard them pan a car, but in the last year or two they seem to be a little more critical of a car if they don't like something. They don't go overboard but any criticism is low key.
