2013 Aston Martin Vanquish is a rhapsody in blue

Aston Martin gave the 2013 Vanquish its North American debut yesterday evening at the McCall Motorworks Revival ahead of this year's Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. With blue paintwork that looks good enough to eat and plenty of carbon fiber trim work inspired by the similarly delicious One-77, the newest version of the Vanquish looks like it will fit comfortably into the company's stable.

Engineers manage to stiffen the aging VH platform by around 25 percent, though forward thrust still comes from the tried-and-true 6.0-liter V12 with 565 horsepower and 457 pound-feet of torque on tap. Aston Martin says the 2013 Vanquish is good for 0-60 sprints in the 4.1-second range regardless of whether the buyer opts for the 2+2 or 2+0 seating configuration.

Speaking of the cabin, designers borrowed heavily from the halo One-77 with LED lighting treatments throughout. Expect to see a knew steering wheel and a significantly larger trunk as well. How large? Aston says the cargo area can now stash more goods than that of Volkswagen Golf. If you want a 2013 Vanquish to call your very own, get ready to pony up $279,995.

I have always felt that even though their engines needed updating and more power for a LONG time, Aston Martin has always managed to produce some of the most beautiful cars on the road. The shape is perfect. I have always said Ferraris are striking but Astons are beautiful
