Kia Quoros Flagship Sedan Coming to US in 2014

While it’s long been expected that Kia’s Quoris flagship sedan would eventually make it over to the U.S., we now know roughly when that will happen.
Speaking with Kia officials at the recent launch of the 2014 Kia Cadenza, website Automotive learned that the Quoris would go on sale in the U.S. “next year.” This suggests that we’re likely to see it list as a 2015 model.

The Quoris was first launched in Kia’s home market of Korea in 2012, where it is known as a K9.

Here in the U.S. it is expected to receive a different name altogether, along with some unique styling treatments. Versions of the car with camouflage gear over their bumpers have been spotted testing on U.S. soil.

The Quoris shares a rear-wheel-drive platform with the Hyundai Equus and its size and proportions also match up with the Hyundai flagship. To differentiate it from its corporate sibling, the Quoris forgoes a V-8 and relies instead on a 3.8-liter V-6 rated at 285 horsepower.

A direct-injected version of this engine with 330 horsepower on tap is expected to be fitted to models sold in the U.S. An eight-speed automatic will be the standard transmission.

Depending on trim level, available features on the Quoris include adaptive all-LED headlights, lane-departure and blind-sport warning systems, active cruise control and a camera-based around-view monitor. Other features, either available or standard, include a 12.3-inch central display, a head-up display, twin 9.2-inch monitors to entertain rear seat occupants and a 17-speaker Lexicon (by Harman) sound system.

As for pricing, expect it to start slightly below the $59,250 starting price of the Hyundai Equus.

I wished they'd call it K9 and not Quoris. I can't get Cloris Leachman out of my head.

Back design and interior looks good but the front grill and lights are too odd looking.

Default Kia dealers report K900 flagship RWD sedan is coming to US

Kia dealers report K900 flagship RWD sedan is coming to US

Kia has told dealers that it will bring a $50,000 to $70,000, rear-drive flagship sedan to the United States early in 2014, although it won't be called what you think. Instead of the unloved Quoris name, the full-size sedan will be called the K900.

That name change is a welcomed one, judging by our initial reactions to Quoris. Names aside, though, the K900 sounds like an interesting piece of kit. It'll be riding on the same platform as the Hyundai Equus, although we suspect Kia's car will be quite a different beast than it's corporate cousin. Automotive News is reporting that the K900 should have a pair of engines when it arrives in the US - a 3.8-liter V6 and a 5.0-liter V8. The former puts out 290 horsepower, while the V8, which is likely the same Tau engine found in the Equus, should have around 420 hp. LED headlights, adaptive cruise control and all the other trimmings expected at this price point will also make appearances on the K900.

Kia's national dealer council, Don Hobden, told Automotive News the K900 should represent "7-Series value for a 5-Series price." While Kia wouldn't comment on the new model, AN reports that it's targeting 5,000 units next year, with a limited rollout at select dealerships.

Quoris = 7/5Series + LS460

What a mess........

Looks good but it is odd how only the flagships from Hyundai and KIA are derivative. As of late, all the rest of the lineups don't look like anything else in their respective classes.

It's too bad they didn't photograph a model with properly aligned doors. (Check out the chrome trim below the B-pillar).
