BMW 650i
Test drove a 650i today and just wanted to say a few words about it.
I felt compelled to share because I was so surprised that I liked the car.
I didn't plan on a test drive but stopped in because a dealership just happened to be near where I was at the time.
I had written off the car as a possible acquisition because it is so darn big and not as attractive as the last 6 imo. I didn't expect what I found.
First, there is a load of leg room up front. I sorta expected there to be ample room but not this. I couldn't believe it. Then there was this huge trunk area for people who like utility. But I was so comfortable that it peaked my interest further.
Next thing that got me was the power. I didn't expect 400 hp to be so powerful. It's available at any speed. I discovered it has loads of torque so that's the big reason the power is so available everywhere. Could be a little better off the line because the car is so heavy but everything else was amazingly enjoyable. I didn't even floor the pedal and still loved it. But I did a lot of high speed curves and exaggerated lane changes. I thought the sales guy was gonna get sick but he kept egging me on so i did. You can definitely feel the difference changing from sport mode to comfort. It's like having 2 cars in one.
Only real complaint about the drive was the hard runflats. They would go imediately if I got one of these.
Next to really impress was the tech. I thought the 4GS tech was impressive but it's nothing compared to the 650i. You put in a CD and you never have to put that CD in ever again. The system remembers it and replays the disc. Or it will only play the cuts that are your favorites.
With your bluetooth, the system access all your apps from your phone. Including your music apps. Being a music lover, I am psyched about that.
Speaking of music, the sound system is very nice. There are other tech features like heads up display but I won't bore you all with everything.
As big and heavy as the car is, it doesn't handle like a boat. I enjoyed driving it a lot more than I did the Benz CL. I don't even have to mention the quality of the car, inside and out. It is a 100K car. All the materials felt first rate to my fingertips.
If you love big coupes like I do, this one deserves some thought.

I'm really considering getting rid of my 535 and go ahead and get a 650 coupe. IMO they're on of the most beautifully designed cars on the road now. Its just the price tag thats gonna hurt my pockets though.
on another note, this was my first look at the 6 series Gran Coupe. First impression, it's only reason for being is the decent sales of the CLS. My early prediction, it will be discontinued before a design refresh.
Back to the 650i. I liked it so much i kept imagining it with 21's, lowered on coils, tint and roof spoiler, and with front and rear splitters. When a guy starts modding a car in his mind, that's trouble. I've got car sickness bad.

I see that Henry already corrected you but yeah, I'm sure.

This is what has me sold. Next year if I'm not in a S Class I'll be in one of these for sure. http://m.youtube.com/index?desktop_uri=%2F&gl=US
so next year they are going to up the boost on the v8 for another 45hp?! wow...
One of the finance managers that works at the dealership with me just bought a 2007 BMW M6 with 40K on the clock. The next day the gauge cluster lit up like a christmas tree and the car spent a week in the shop. The day after he got it back, same thing happened. The M6 is currently back on the showroom floor
