In California you don't need insurance, you have the option of buying a bond. If you have the money you can do it. Lots of CA laws you can avoid if you're rich, look at Steve Jobs, he bought a new exactly the same Benz every 6 monthes so he never had to put plates on it.

I'm not necessarily saying this is the case with you, but many people need to learn one more lesson with cars......simply learning to be satisfied with what they can afford.

I drove used cars for some years, and was well into my 20s before I bought my first new car.

I imagine I'll be well into my 40's before I buy my first brand new car. I really don't need one and can't justify the depreciation expense associated with it.

I can tell you that when the day comes that I buy one new, I plan to prepare 5 years in advance for it. Rather than take out a 3-5 year loan on a car, I want to put that same monthly amount into a bank account every month and let it accrue interest for me for the 5 year period. Then I can go buy a car in cash AND have money for mods
