Did the GS in the Car and Driver comparo with the A6 have the AVS?

I'm definitely sure it didn't have the larger 14" 2 piece front brake rotors and the Dynamic Rear Steering of the F-sport. That would have widened the gulf in handling even more.

The C&D GS was a base model with luxury package, and their A6 had the 19" sport suspension package. Despite that they favored the GS in fun to drive, and while they started out looking for the best sport sedan, they awarded the A6 the win because it has "character". That comparo was all over the place.

Exactly. The base GS was picked as the sportier drive, they basically said it was the better car but they awarded the Audi for being an Audi. Which is odd b/c still compared to BMW, Benz, Lexus, Audi still is behind with sales and image.

Lots of torque, AWD and huge wheels are how Audi is trying to compensate for an inherently inferior chassis, and it took all of that for the A6 to edge out a tight win over a base GS. Oh and of course, it's ze German car.
