Those tundras are beasts ... especially with the TRD supercharger

My dream truck (If I were to ever get one) is a supercharged TRD tundra double cab

 

I like Tundra better, drove a 07 5.7 limited when it came out, and I was impressed. My friends have two and both is over 80k miles now and have been problem free.

 

Seriously? No Lincoln Blackwood on your list?

I'd go with the F-Series as well. Take a helluva lot of abuse and still going. Speaking from experiences from people I know though.

 

One of my longtime buddies is one of the finance managers at my Ford dealership. (We met through our wives and he worked at Ford Credit at the time.) When the dealership was bought out, the new owners eliminated demo cars for the employees and offered everyone discounts. Ford had discontinued the Blackwood and the dealership had one they couldn't sell. He bought it for a song.

 

That's on the diesel models. It is a new advanced thermoplastic that is considerably better than a metal pan. It has better impact resistance, lower weight, and will never rust. Dana won some engineering awards for that technology. I'd expect other manufacturers to make the switch in the next few years.

 

That is just one of several new innovations on the new diesel. It is an amazing piece of technology.

 

how about a raptor?
though i know it doesnt hit the GCWR requirement you have and uses more gas than the king ranch..
it was just a thought..

love the raptor buts its just not ideal for towing if he plans on going big, but its such an awesome truck!

 

Well, I looked at a promising Tundra DoubleCab, but today I bought an 01 LX470. That truck has been on my bucket list for a while. Thanks for all the suggestions.

Yep, everything works, perfect leather, and there's no body rust (just surface rust on frame members - which is pretty good for having spent it's entire life in the rustbelt). The only downside an an aftermarket flip-down display on the roof and RCA cords terminating in the glovebox.

And no love for the Ram, huh? Thats ok, I was going to say go with the Ford LOL. (not, really. I like ford, but how would that look? )

 

From what I've found online, that year should have a GCWR of about 12K. However, with that short of a wheelbase, it certainly won't be the best tow vehicle. Anyway, I've been revising my summer plans for this year. I know people who have cabins (or who know people who have cabins) in all the places I want to go this year, and probably next. This may be a better overall vehicle (and certainly smoother riding) for those treks.
