Transporting a bumper...!
Hey guys!
I'm from Norcal - Berkeley, specifically.
I'll be headed down to LA for a roadtrip with my friends in mid december - around the 17th-21st. I plan on stopping by and picking up an IS-F styled bumper, simply because I don't really like any of the lips available for my 2IS, and I wanted something that looked OEM. I'm not trying to pay shipping to get this bumper up since I'm already in Socal. We're taking an IS350 and an IS300 down there - maybe another car, possibly a Scion tC. :X
How would you guys go about bringing the bumper back up?
To be on the safe side, if it were to sit in a box, it'd be around 6x2x2.5ft. Without a box, it'd have a lot of extra room in the middle. So.....
What would you guys do?
Tie it to the roof? Other options?
Share your thoughts/ideas! :P

That's what I planned on trying. LOL. I dunno if it'll fit though. I'll definitely try it out tho. If worst comes to worst, I'm gonna be shipping it, but I feel like I'd be more likely to strap it to top of my car. :s

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOL. Dude believe it or not, I actually seriously considered that. LOL. I wouldn't rub on my 9.5/10.5 +22 wheels. 
I'd look super ghetto going there, and then somewhat ghetto rolling back up with a matte black primered bumper. :X

I have transported a bumper inside my IS the way rominl described. It barely fits and you have to use a lot of towels so that it doesn't scratch the front dashboard. However, If you do it that way, you can't have a passenger, especially for such a long drive as berkley to LA.

I have transported a bumper inside my IS the way rominl described. It barely fits and you have to use a lot of towels so that it doesn't scratch the front dashboard. However, If you do it that way, you can't have a passenger, especially for such a long drive as berkley to LA.
Fosho. Hopefully I can find a bike rack for my friend's IS300. :X

LOL true. What I'm thinking is, I'm gonna put my stock bumper for sale on the classifieds, and hopefully, someone in SoCal will want it. If I can have them buy it there, I can go straight to OptionRacing and get my IS-F styled (not posing, just like the look over OEM + lip) bumper and slap it on and drive it back. ^___^

One more question guys! If I was to drive down with no front bumper, wouldn't my fender linger kinda just hang out and rub my tires? Should I just take that off altogether and put it back on when I'm in Socal, or will it not rub against my tires?

Believe me you don't want to try to haul a bumper in an IS. I've tried carrying just a side skirt in my cars and it's already a very tough fit. Strapping a box on top of the car will not work unless you drive slower than 15mph.
You can always plan ahead and either sell your stock bumper and get your new one installed here in LA or drive down here without a bumper. Either plan is not 100% safe so I'd come up with a backup plan just in case.
Another way to go about this is to find a reasonably priced shipping method. Give Greyhound a call and just have one of the buses transport the bumper to your nearest location. I've bought a few bumpers from the East Coast and had them shipped via Greyhound to CA for around $60-$70 without problems. It's faster than UPS and cost may even be cheaper in your scenario.
