Talking

I find myself wanting a truck to haul stuff, but the gas would kill me as a daily driver. I can certainly afford it, but it would **** me off to no end to spend every 4th day getting gas. I usually borrow a friend's truck and spring for lunch for the assist. I am contemplating buying a decent used truck just for runs to the hardware store or carting larger items. My first addition, were I to buy one, would be the best sticker for a window I have ever seen.

Yes, this is my truck. No, I will not help you move.

Congrats on the pickup (pun intended).

Congragulations, Josh. That's quite a jump up (literally, on the running-board) from a Civic.

I agree that it is probably a suitable vehicle for the work (and trips) you are likely to give it. But, if you are going to drive it in the snow (even with the 4WD), dump some of that snow into the bed to give it some weight and stability in back. Even with the 4WD, empty pickups are notoriously light on their rear wheels, and they can lose traction. That's why, in general, rear-wheel ABS became standard on pickups before it did on any other type of vehicle.

Oh yeah. 26 gallons in the short bed, 32 gallons in the long bed Ram!

Compared to 13 gallons in the Civic.

So at today's average price of $3, that's $96.00 to fill a Ram long bed from dry. Ouch.

Not bad for $6K...

I wonder how well the new Ram stacks up against the F150/Silverado 1500/Tundra...

Mine has a Direct Inj 4.7L V8 with 310 hp...im not sure how the competition stacks up, but other trucks in the class, it may be one of the best.

It's only money (in the land of comparitively cheap gas).

But thanks for the capactiy specs. The range (in miles) at 14 mpg is not significantly different than the Civic. Range is adequate.

Dealer filled it when I picked it up on the night of the 22nd. today, I am between 3/4 and 1/2 a tank. I have driven 150 miles (city) total. Its a big adjustment in fuel, but honestly, if I get 400 miles on a tank of gas in the city, I will be happy. I honestly think something was wrong with the civic. Last tank of gas I put in it, it averaged 22 city. I put 9.5 gallons in and had only driven 210 miles at fillup. Thats kinda sad for a 4 banger. Doing some research I have found that the Flex Fuel package, in addition to being E85 compatible, also has "Highway 4-cylinder Shutdown". When cruise control is activated without using the electrical connections on the tow package, it shuts off half of the engines cylinders, effectively becoming a 4 cylinder engine. I hope this will ease the pain of long hwy trips. The hwy mileage will be the biggest adjustment factor. No more 6500 mile trips for $400 in gas.

Forget about the E85 feature, the fuel economy is horrible running that fuel.

Correct. Ethanol, on the average, has only about 50-60% the BTU energy of gasoline. So, while it burns much cleaner and has other advantages, it also gets much lower mileage.

Yes, for comparison purposes (reasonably valid E85 vs conventional gasoline comparisons), refer to the EPA gas mileage charts for the specific vehicle(s) in question.

I will never run anything other than regular old gasoline. E85 is too expensive to pay the extra for worse gas mileage. They dont have any pumps on this coast anyway that I have seen. Found a nail in the r/f tire, dealer will take care of it friday, picked up the factory floormats today, for some reason the owners manual has been misplaced, hopefully I get one before the first oil change is due so I know the capacities and stuff.

not feeling the dodge but congrats on the truck, a deal is a deal!

two things

a. your life will be easier since you can haul whatever you want at will, real nice if you own a home
b. now you will not have an excuse to not by toys because you can tow them now
