According to the crew at Inside Line, AMG may be looking into working its magic on a model below the current C-Class. While speaking at this year's LA Auto Show, Ola Kaellenius, the head honcho of the Mercedes-Benz go-fast division, said that while there isn't much of a case for AMG-tweaked versions of the A- and B-Class right now, that may change in the next three to four years. That means that Mercedes-Benz would have to give the go-ahead on a much smaller high-performance engine than AMG's current go-to 5.5-liter forced-induction V8, though Inside Line says that AMG has been working in that area already.
This is our excited face.
In addition to the good news about brawnier baby Benz models, Kaellenius also said that his brand will pursue reducing weight before sliding hybrid drivetrains into its products. That means that AMG is safe from dreaded battery packs – for now. Likewise, we can keep our ears pinned for news of two new Black Series cars sooner rather than later.

Probably won't do us much good in the U.S., though. M-B still doesn't bring the A or B-Class models here, though there is some talk of the fuel-cell versions maybe coming over to give the Honda FCX some competition. But, if the company won't bring the bread-and-butter versions over here, there's probably not much chance of them bringing over AMG versions.
Even the miniscule Smart Car, which is technically an M-B product, is not imported here directly by M-B itself, but by a Penske franchise.
Maybe. I won't try and predict with a crystal-ball. It (might) depend on if BMW does an M1 series or Audi does an S3/RS-3 here in America.

^rofl! that's what i thought when i read the title. but in keeping with the bimmer 1 series which i believe has an upcoming M addition to its lineup, it makes sense for mb to do the same. though the a and b classes arent in the US market, i can see it taking place. the picture is hiarious!
B-class rumours for the US have been around on Mercedes forums for almost 2 years and nothing has happened. But that comes as no surprise as Mercedes carefully weighs its product offerings for the US.
Smart car is purposely not branded or associated with Mercedes in the US. For example the Smart car can not be serviced at my local Mercedes dealership, but Maybach cars can be and are.

Your Canadian neighbors up north have the B class and they say it seems to be doing quite well. If this keeps up, USA division might be convinced to do the same.
P.S.
Btw, I would kill for an A class AMG version. Damn that would look like sex on a small package. Hot damn.
