I have to agree with this to a certain extent.
The only guy I dont like so far is the one with glasses. He sounds like he's reading off a script....and even if they are..its just to obvious with him. The others are more natural if anything.
Regardless, you cannot beat The Hamster, Captain Slow and Clarkson.

It was actually pretty good. I think after becoming familiar with the hosts, it will be more enjoyable.
Structure wise, the show is a carbon copy of the British show. It's called Top Gear because it is the same show just with different hosts in a different country.

1st episode was ok.... definitly not as entertaining as the euro top gear. tanner is too serious and the others just dont have the personality to be funny like richard, james. and im pretty sure outside of a straight line tanner is the only one who can drive and even then he just drifts the whole time. ill give it a few more episodes before i decide if i like it

they arent funny
the camera men/editing aren't as good
the challenge was stupid
there is no chemistry between the three
so far disapointed. If they can pull off a good "how hard can it be" challenge, then it might get better

I watched the first episode tonight and it wasn't too bad IMO. It feels like an unrefined version of UK Top Gear.
The driving commentary sounds just like UK's one LOL. It can only get better.

I would like to think this show is targeted towards US folks who has never seen the UK top gear, to add more viewers to the overall BBC portfolio.
They are basically using the same format, hoping to grab unsuspecting audiences here, as opposed to using the same format to please the original US viewers.

So what? Look at the automotive garbage we get on TV over here. Pinks, Pimp my Ride, and a slew of nonsense with empty headed girls in bikinis talking to a guy with a Astro Van and a million subwoofers. the new version will be way better than any of those, and it's a great alternative for when TG UK is off the air.
And don't judge it based on one episode. It's a brand new series. They have to satisfy the general american "car audience," which consists mainly of brand *****s and teenagers obsessed with shiny wheels, subwoofers, and useless spoilers - along with the TG UK fans, all in one show. So of course the start is going to be a bit weird, as they grab new fans while trying to create host chemistry and build up a reputation. Remember back to season one of the UK version - Jason Rowe did a section on how you can buy a 1989 ford fiesta for cheap, for christ sakes. And then he was canned for lack of chemistry. Even when James May came in, it was awkward for a while, until they realized that people like the insane challenges. Now they do those every other episode.
Give it time. They have some learning to do, and learn they will. Give feedback to the history channel - the producers always appreciate constructive criticism.
And having met Clarkson, Hammond and May and been to a filming of the UK version, I can tell you that the UK version is 100% scripted as well. It has to be. You can't exactly do a race through public roads just on a whim.
