Default My new toy!!! Another VR4 for me to play with

Wanted to share my project car I have been working on for the past 8 months.

Finally got my hands on one These are a rare car. Only made 3k of them from 91-92. Been searching for 3 years to find a stock and clean car. This car has been owned by 2 owners both over 8 years each. Stock paint too. Here is a little info. 2.0 (4G63) Turbo engine 195hp. It's AWD and all wheel steering.

This was my old one. Had it from 2000-2003.

Already started the restore process. Lots of work but a whole lot of fun

Working on the rear first. Lots of new parts and cleaning. Also cleaning up the rust. This is the hard part. Really isn't that bad. Got to get to work sanding the rust away!!!!

Dropped the gas tank to day. This thing was dirty!!!

20 years of built up sand LOL

Just some more images:

This weekend I will be working on treating the under carriage. Also Mitsubishi should up with alot of new parts . I also ordered BC Coilovers today too.

Here are some pictures of the gas tank. The thing looks sick!!!

I welded the rear bumper surpport yesterday and sealed it. Just got to paint it. Then I can but the rear bumper back on.

Painted the rear brake calipers. These where replaced 1 year ago by the last owner. Just had some rust on them. So I treaded them today. Going to paint them tomorrow.

Update: 7/7/2010

Taking of front bumber, grill, headlights, Intake, intercooler and piping.

The guy had the front and rear bumber repainted and the body shop didn't do a good job. As you can see. I have all new intercooler and piping to go on.

Former owner replaced turbo 5k ago. This is a TDO5 16g. Stock is TDO4 14b.

This is one of the intercooler pipes the former owner had on the car.

Update: 7/27/2010

More images from today: Ordered two new fenders.

Battary tray: off to plaster

Below battary try: Got to treat this area.

Update: 7/30/2010

I removed the fender liner and found more rust in the frame rails. Doesn't look to bad. Just got to get all the rust out then weld new metal in. Then treat with the rust bullet and then paint. I started on the battary try area. This area is just surface rust. So won't take long. I will be doing this area tomorrow. More pics.

Update: 10/8/2010

Exhaust showed up. Nice quality exhaust. Welds look really good. Nothing much else going on with the car. Just haven't had anytime to touch it.

Went ahead and painted the rear muffler section black. Turned out really nice. The exhaust is not bolt down. Just hanging up there by the rubber hangers. Fitment looks great so far.

Update: 11/07/2010

Worked on her alittle bit these week. Replacing the valve cover gasket. It was leaking. The engine looks clean for the miles. Finally finished replacing the exhaust manifold studs. Got most of the turbo back on. Going to pull the oil pan and but a new one on. So I had to take the front diff off. Went ahead and cleaned it up and painted it. Here are some pics:

Got to clean the valve cover up

Front diff.

This is as far as I have got up to day: Thanks for looking

My friend has a Galant VR-4 that she's trying to sell. She's located in CT.

I didn't realize how rare these were. She's a huge DSM nerd.

WOW, very cool! Thanks for sharing! I just looked at all the pics and you did a great job, so much work! But it is looking awesome!

I tried to buy a 92' Galant VR-4 when I was in high school, but didn't have enough money I wish I did
