Did Hyundai forget that they introduced, in full, the 2011 Elantra way back in April?

^^^

The U.S. gets the dumbed down version, which is still very good for an entry-level sedan...

Looks like Hyundai is really coming on strong! A few key specs:

- 29/40MPG for both AT and MT models
- EPA classified as a midsize car - ?
- Better fuel economy than Ford Fiesta
- More interior space than a Nissan Maxima or Passat CC - ?
- 37% more rigid construction
- 2,661 lbs
- 10% weight reduction across the line
- New 1.8L engine is 74 lbs lighter
- 148hp, 131 lb-ft of torque
- Class leading power-to-weight ratio
- Push button start
- Base $14,830

Looks like the new yardstick has just been thrown. Too bad it's ungainly to look at

Looks good, will I buy probably not, but looks good, and I love how they have 40 MPG across the line not like Chevrolet's Cruze you have to buy the most expensive model to get the benefits of the MPG.

Hyundai is the new VW, sans the drama I hope.
You honestly think Hyundai is on the quality levels of VW?

LOL!

There's no comparison. I'd feel more confident in a Hyundai with a 100K on it over a new VW,
VW is consistently the most trouble prone major automaker in the industry.

Hyundai is claiming more interior volume than a Nissan Maxima or VW CC for the new Elantra.

Its well priced.

Drag coefficient is like 0.28. Good job Hyundai.

Competition
VW Jetta
Ford Fiesta/Focus

Plus if it has more space than a VW Passat CC thats even better. One thing when does it go on sale?

Fixed the Ford competition for you.

And don't forget the two primary competitors - Corolla and Civic.

A face-lifted version is out for 2011 (see recent thread). The current gen came out in America for the 2009 model year. We can expect an all new one for 2013.

Japan and certain other markets usually gets it a year earlier.

Hyundai's competition for the Fiesta is the Accent.

Here's the new 2012 Accent (called Verna in Korea)...
