Anyone heading to Pebble beach Concours d'Elegance for 2011

I was headed to Pebble beach this year but ended up not being able to go because of the birth of my daughter. I am going to be there for 2011 and was wondering if we have Club Lexus guys that have been or go on a regular basis. I know its a year away but I am very excited. The photos from the Concours de elegance , Concorso Italiano, and Tour de elegance look amazing this year. I have to admit I am getting a bit bored with the typical modern cars. I have always enjoyed automotive history ( probably more than most on this forum) and find this show an awesome opportunity to see the some of the most beautiful and expensive cars in the world, as well as a window back into time. I am taking the entire week off to be there for the full event.

FOR REFERENCE:

tickets :$150 in advance or $175 at the door. Now if you are really into the experience you can do a VIP club d'Elegance pass for $500. I am going to take advantage and do the club d'elegance package for me and the wife

Club d'Elegance tickets include:
• VIP Patron Badge (your credential to get into the Concours)
* Concours Program
* Concours Poster signed by the poster artist
* Special Commemorative Gift (a dash plaque like the one provided to each Concours entry)
• VIP Parking (one pass per group)
• Shuttle Service from Club tent at Equestrian Center to and from show field
• Full Buffet Breakfast, served from 9 to 11 a.m.
• Elegant Buffet Lunch, served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
• Sponsored Wine
• Cash Bar
• Executive Restrooms
• Coat and Package Check

The more I look at these cars the more I feel that modern cars look so generic and dull. Look at the shapes of these beautiful cars as well as the attention to detail.

I've been twice many years ago. I could only get 1 corporate pass w/access to suite this year so I declined. If I had asked earlier I could have had 2 passes, better luck next year.

My favorite is still Concorso Italiano (always on the Friday before). Lots of fine machinery (not just Italian), more low key, easier access, fewer people, etc.

The weather varies for both events, often it's cool and overcast.

I am going to try to be there for the entire Monterey Auto week. I think the tour d'elegance will be pretty cool to see. The Concourso Italiano will be awesome as well. I know its in a year but I am already very excited. Monterey is a beautiful part of California. I am looking forward to the scenery as well. The 17 mile drive is going to be a blast to the past

I will be there in 2012. I was originally planning on driving my Ferrari F355 down from Oregon for this year's, but while she was in Seattle (She still is there) getting her long-trim fuel problem fixed my mechanic broke his foot and wasn't able to get her fixed in time.

So, next year, for sure.

I will also be putting my 355 in the show and get the full entrance VIP packages, as well.

I live in the Monterey Peninsula and Concours week is by far my favorite time of year. I've been to the Concorso Italiano, Tour d'Elegance, and a few other automotive events, but never the Concours itself.

I am really excited about going. I have already called my brother in law and brother to get them to set up reservations as well. I think its will make a nice vacation and a break from Hawaii for 1 year ( not that I dont love Hawaii though).

For me it will be like spending the week around what I would consider my own personal celebrities. Its going to be awesome. This is an experience that I will told close to my heart for the rest of my life. Now that I have a daughter I would like to go back every 2-3 years to show her and teach her about the greats. My daughter will definetly be one of those really cool girls who knows more about cars than most guys

Thanks for reminding me. I need to pursue my corporate tickets.

I8ABMR Apr 16, 2011 11:21 PM

I am going to do my best. Things at work have jumped to next level and I am barley able to leave 1 day a week let alone the entire week.

^ Hope you get the chance this year or next to attend. It's an experience for car-lovers like no other.

Enjoy the show, I8ABMR. :) I've only been to Monterey once, but what little I saw of the Pacific Coast Highway is beautiful (the only road we have in VA that can compare is the Skyline-Drive/Blue Ridge Parkway that runs the crest of the mountains......arguably the most scenic road in the East).

From what I hear, Governor Schwarzenegger and Jay Leno sometimes attend the Pebble Beach event (I'm not sure about every year). Leno, of course, has one of the greatest private-car collections in the world, and Schwarzenegger is known for his former Hummer H1s.
