Exclamation New 2012 Camaro Z28 confirmed in photos. 6.2L V8 supercharged motor confirmed.

The muscle car wars is truly back. This should give the Mustang GT500 a good run for its money.

A 6.2L SC V8 could only mean the LS9 or LSA, both good for over 550hp.

kewl

but I'm pretty sure the base vette will crush the GT500 in every category already for less money....correct?

True, but the then again the vette is a sports car whereas the camaro and GT500 are muscle cars. Also the vette isn't a whale. Price wise, the vette and GT500 are around the same price, with options adding up fast of course

2011 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Breaks Record 2:58.5 at Virginia International Raceway

LL2: 2007 Chevrolet Corvette > 3:03.6
LL4: 2006 Ford GT > 3:00.7
LL2: 2011 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 > 2:58.5

The new engine 2011 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 probably still beat the 2012 Camaro Z28 with better gas mileage

My mom made a good point after driving the Camaro SS recently...we live in a busy Philly Suburb BTW. She said that you have all of this V8 power at your disposal. Meanwhile, nobody drives MTs any more because you are always in traffic and go from red light to red light, bumper to bumper. So what is the point of a V8 anymore?

I thought that was interesting. Kind of exposes an oxymoron.

Not everyone lives in major cities with frequent stop-and-go traffic...

This is true, but if free, open stretches of road were still prevalent, the manual transmission wouldnt be averaging less than 10% of cars sold.

Please. Some people simply do not want manual transmission regardless whether they drive on open stretches of road or not.

I personally would rather have anthrax than drive a manual.

I like manuals (and have always had them only in my weekend sports cars) but not in dd's.

Your mom makes a valid point, having been stuck in a Dodge Viper, and with the advancements in transmissions, I feel stupid buying a manual, but mainly for resale value, then again I don't know the percentage of manual trans when you look at mustangs and camaros, these cars actually make sense having a manual
