2010 Nissan Skyline 250GT (Infiniti G25) First Drive; 222 hp 2.5-liter V6

Sounds great on paper, but wouldn't infiniti prefer to sell G37's? Isn't that going to produce more profit for them? I assume profit margins for Is350's are higher than they are for IS250's. I'm only speculating, I'm by no means in the know about auto sales what so ever.

Seems like a risky move. G37's are already seen as value propositions. G37 Journey sedans can be had already in the low 30's to mid 30's. G25's are going to go have to be in the upper 20's range. It does seem this will canabalize more G37 sales than they will pull conquest sales from IS250's, BMW 328's, C-class, and Acura TL/TSX sales.
Perhaps they think they can grab conquest sales from those shopping loaded V6 Accords, Camrys, Fusions, and probably even Altima shoppers. That could certainly boost G sales tremendously. The G25 sedan has the size and possibly price to appeal to the family sedan shopper, something most others in the entry-luxury class doesn't have.

Not to mention increasing fuel prices and the oil spill which will eventually translate to higher fuel prices. Better not to be caught with your pants down.

I think its a great move for Infiniti. They need more models and price points and this car would be a perfect compliment to their current lineup.
What I found interesting in the above quote was that the 4.5 year old IS was still more polished then the new Nissan.
The 2010 Nissan Skyline 250GT has more spirit than the more polished IS 250 and can do a lot of what the 328i does for a lot less money

Lolz, that's because you guys in America are too used to your high-displacement engines :P.
Though with stricter fuel economy and emission regulations (including your CAFE over there), I guess introducing lower-displacement engine versions is starting to become more common than before.
With traffic and congestion in some parts of Japan (especially in crowded roadways of Tokyo like in Chiyoda), it's better that they didn't as demand for such would be extremely minimal. :P
