1) Looks like the Lexus sales event worked pretty well...they had a good month.
2) As several industry people have noted, it seems like the lure of Toyota's incentives has worn off. The brand had a so/so month and the Camry slipped behindthe Accord in sales.
3) New E is still selling well
4) Looks like the 5 Series is having trouble with volume and demand, but I think BMW forecasted this earlier anyway.
5) Yaris sales flew off a cliff
6) What is Ford doing to move that many Escapes? That thing is probably the biggest POS in it's class
7) CrossTurd is a failure
8) New Sienna is ROCKIN'
...other than that I pretty much agree with Mike's statements above.

We all know that the HS isn't close to meeting its sales goals, but its pretty cool that it isn't affecting the IS And ES Sales. Just another 1000 or sales to add to lexus total. Might seem like major overlap to sell 3 sedans all ranging from 30k to 45k(even though they all have different approaches, comfort, sport, and hybrid), but it seems to be working for them so far.

Sold had a huge sales lead last month and again, they have gotten a lot of bad press. People believe in the brand and the product in bad times, which really shows how strong the brand is.
I am sure even Lexus is stunned at how well the RX is doing. They predicted sales around 80k and sales are constantly at pre-recession levels at 100k.
I think to some but it seems people like the HS being quirky as well. As I've stated my wife and I want to love the car but ended up just liking it and styling took it off any potential list. (oddly I kind of want one as a nice lil daily).

Here is how some individual vehicles do if included in overall sales figures. (Luxury branded vehicles only)
Also
ES+IS+HS=9,722
The 3/RX amazingly are selling at pre-recession levels here and sell more than many entire brands. Next we see the E-class sedan/coupe selling more than ANY entry level vehicle and they the next class up in size/price. You can see Volvo really needs their new S60 to add some much needed volume.
Porsche will of course be at the bottom in sales as they are they are the most expensive brand here. In regards to the Panamera I am sure their transaction prices are higher than the competitions. The challenge will be will they stay at this sales pace for a couple of years.
Muscle Cars

This is pretty amazing as it is crystal clear import "muscle cars"/coupes simply do not come close to them in sales. 370Z, Genesis Coupe, RX8, etc all sell far below these vehicles. These vehicles have their core audience as well as have improved significantly where it attracts new buyers. So whomever argues people don't want coupes needs to look at this segment. People do buy coupes.

The top six sellers(E, C, M, GLK, GL, and S) of Mercedes-Benz accounts for 94.16% of their total sales in May 2010, that is, 17464 out of 18548 vehicles sold. The remaining seven models combined were outsold by S-class itself.

Sadly not a good sign for coupes

The ES alone with no other variations still outsells the IS with three variations. Adding an ES hybrid would increase sales of the ES...Toyota does have a Camry hybrid and an RX hybrid which all pretty much shares the same platform.

Genesis seems to sell around 2200-2500 a month, far below sales goals.
Unless sales of the new M pick up, the Genesis sedan will likely outsell Infiniti's E segment sedan (definitely not good for Infiniti).

It's a good thing that Ford finally is doing away w/ Mercury b/c Lincoln is in serious need of fresh product (w/ more differentiation from Ford products, esp. w/ regard to sheetmetal).
Buick + Caddy make GM the "luxury" leader; expect that lead to grow w/ the Regal hitting the dealer lots (and once Caddy gets an STS replacement, as well as a Lambda crossover, GM's "luxury" divisions will make Lincoln an afterthought).

The V-8 4.6 starts at $39,000. The V-8 M56 starts at $57,500. That is almost 20 grand more.
The Genesis was launched in a slowing economy so the modest 20k sales goal is a huge miss especially considering its price. There is also a nationwide $399 lease for it being advertised nationally.
Now I am not sure if people see the value in the new M37/56 when it is no longer cheaper than Lexus or the Germans and you do have cars like the Genesis and MKS etc who do offer value. So far M37/56 sales have been pretty dismal. They better hope Nissan provides some new lease backing as it seems without it the vehicles don't sell. Surely they don't expect the car to sell 25k a year like the last model in its peak years but I don't think they want to sell 15k either.
