Wards 2010 Best Interior Awards
Most everyone is familiar with the Ward's Auto 10 Best Engines award where BMW, Audi and Ford took several honors for 2010, but a less prominent, though perhaps more eye-catching, award given by the magazine is the Ward's Interior of the Year awards.
The award recipients are chosen through a process that examines all new vehicles for the given model year. For 2010, Ward's had 40 vehicles, considered finalists meeting the requirements. Vehicles are placed in several different classes and judged based upon interior ergonomics, quality and feel of materials, comfort, fit and finish and overall value.
The winners in each class will be announced in mid-April, but you can continue after the jump to view the list of competitors in each class. It could be argued that many of the vehicles are deserving, but only one per class will be selected. The Buick Regal interior pictured above caught our eye, but tell us your own in the comments below.

Pole Position
The Dodge Caliber is hardly all new. The interior of the Caliber is the cheapest, shoddiest, coldest, hardest, and in my opinion, the worst interior of any car built today. Interiors simply don't get any worse.

Even that gives it more credit than due. That also applies to its brother, the Jeep Compass.
While I don't necessarily share this opinion myself, from previous chats, I suspect we are also going to get some disagreements on the Camaro interior.

The Smart-for-Two's interior is starker than the Caliber's, but, IMO, has better-quality hardware.

As far as the best overall interior goes, asssuming one does not include the Maybach/Rolls/Bentley/Aston Martin (which are in a class by themselves) and stays strictly in the mass-produced class, I'd give it to the Audi A8, though the Lexus LS, Acura RL, and Jaguar XF are close. The more-expensive Jaguar XJ's new interior, IMO, is a disappointment.
Here's the 2010 A8:

I am not that familiar w/ the Dodge Caliber but according to this, it did get a redesigned interior.
Now that I look @ it ... I can see where the dismay for the nomination is coming from:
The plastics even look cheap in the pics:

In other words, this award is pretty much meaningless.

Well keep in mind that this award is only given to models that are all-new for the 2010 model year, so there will be lots of cars with what are generally considered the best-in-class interiors missing from the list.

I mean just compare that to the S class
Looks way better...in my opinion.
The LS looks way nicer too. More luxurious and expensive looking
