"with low load" it makes better power numbers and higher efficiency.

That says right there that the engine will do better than the others on paper, but in practice its crap.

Start applying load to the engine (put people in the car; carrying truck cargo) and your greater effeciency probably turns to ****.

Cool, they can advertise better performance in their commercials and then let down consumers when they actually observe different.

 

OK, but the reality is most engines spend the majority of their time at low load. Having good efficiency at low load is really a big deal from a TCO perspective because most of the time you are driving you're at part throttle cruise, not heavy throttle acceleration.

AFA Ford catching Lexus - not a big deal at all. IMHO, Chevrolet has been beating everyone for some time with their LS series - great power, lightest overall weight, and very enviable fuel economy.

Don't misunderstand, I really do love my DOHC engines, but it's really hard to argue the success of the small block Chevy.
