As far as crashes go, one thing that has always made me nervous about small hybrids is having the battery pack behind the rear seats, near to or right over the fuel tank. In a severe rear-end impact that could damage or rupture both the fuel tank and the battery pack, one thing you DON'T want is electrical sparks from damaged batteries too close to fuel vapors (or liquid). I have to assume that the engineers who design small hybrids take that into consideration, and do their own crash tests to prevent or minimize the chances of that happening. Fire-fighters and other rescue personnel have, in the past, also been severely shocked or electrocuted on some hybrids while trying to pry accident victims out of them, which has led to special accident-response procedures today.

I dont see what the big deal is. Every single one of Acuras cars has a 5 start rating and they are supposedly not tier 1

Good stuff Flipside

Adding safety to the mix is certainly another great selling point.

Why the rolleyes??
You must have missed the 50 press releases from Acura themselves stating they want to be tier 1. As I stated nearly ten years ago they are not and will never be tier 1. Volvos are safe are they tier 1 based this test? Lol

oh volvo at least does offer a v-8. Volvo>acura

I forgot about Acura's dedicated hybrid model that they released years ago and got a 5-star rating...oh wait, no I didn't.
