Acura NSX Replacement Arrives to Run in Japan's Super GT Series
wow! I really hope they build a production version of the car!
http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/2...gt-series.html http://www.autoguide.com/gallery/d/1...onda_hsv10.jpg It’s here at last… sort of. Above is a lone photo of the replacement to the Honda/Acura NSX – at least in race car trim. Called the HSV-10 GT, or Velocity Sports Honda, this track only exotic is built to run in the GT500 class of Japan’s Super GT series. As cars in that class are limited to around 500-hp, we can safely assume the HSV-10 GT makes exactly that. With a full carbon fiber body, what’s even more impressive is what’s under the hood – a 3.4-liter V8 engine that no doubt revvs to an impressively high (even for Honda) rpm range to get all 500 ponies. (Honda has yet to release official specs though.) Underpinning this impressive creation is reported to be the very same chassis that Honda was working on for several years to replace the NSX but which has now been rumored canceled. A light weight body and 500-hp 3.4L V8, only for the track? Please Honda, nobody likes a tease. |
oooh that looks pretty cool
|
fancy.......

|
why not just build and sell it

Does the GT-500 class have any sort of homologation rules? If so, the car would have to go into at least a limited production run.
|
don't know if the output can match the GT-R but dam this car sure win's the looks department when comparing to the GT-R..
|
Now that's one very nice looking Unicorn...
I'm surprised Honda doesn't put the Acura emblem on the front of that "Acura NSX" replacement? The LFA has always been a Lexus and never sported a Toyota emblem... |

Correct me if I'm wrong, but to my knowledge, Honda doesn't use the Acura nameplate in the Japanese domestic market. (or at least didn't used to)

Yeah I'm sure this car is only to serve the purpose of some special interest panel in the Honda race Organization that has absolutely nothing to do whatsoever with the buying public.
Its just a Unicorn for green dressed Lepercons to ride over the rainbow in. |

It does, but Super GT already made an exemption for Honda after Honda applied for a special permission for the HSV-10 GT to enter the series without any production plan.
Any idea if Honda is a major series sponsor, or financial backer of some sort? |

Taken from another website:
Honda has managed to side-step the Super GT rules that require the use of a car based on a production vehicle by presenting the drawings and specs of the car to JAF (Japan Automobile Federation), which sanctions the GT Series. The rules permit cars that are production ready, though not necessarily in production, which is why the NSX and Toyota Supra are still a part of the championship. |

god. this car has been killed, brought back, killed, and now set up for racing. The clowns at Honda need to get their **** together

I dont understand how any of you can look at that picture and say, "Ohhh....ahhhh....so pretty."
The nonexistent, never gonna happen, not even in this ballpark production model would look very different. |
At least Honda put it use rather than completely cancel the project after they spent all the money on it. Maybe they might put it to use later real later in the future.

Its lame, it is not even using the V-10 powerplant in the NSX mule is people forgot and its simply a loophole. http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d...op-unicorn.jpg |
you suggest they should destroy everything they developed and waste all the time they spent?

Yeah its great its going to race under a loophole and it also is a slap in the face to loyal Honda fans who were saying how the next NSX was going to be the next big thing and it was canned and instead we get this. :egads: |
They might not use the engine but they're using the body/frame of the car.
Now that they have a v8, maybe they'll put into production later in the future. Even though there are news that they won't. Everyone criticize for not having v8 or selling v8 engine. Now that they have one develop for racing, maybe they'll make it into production. |

You are correct. I believe Honda was going to introduce Acura into the Japanese market but that never happened...

It sounds awesome:
http://www.honda.co.jp/SuperGT/ I lol'ed when I read this on NSX Prime: I feel like I went to the strip club and saw the most exotic dancer I have ever seen. But when I asked for a lap dance, she said "Sorry, I only dance for JGTC drivers." |
Very nice!!!

NSX replacement = Dr. Dre's Detox album... highly speculated, highly anticipated, highly desired yet still not a reality.

So let me get this right. Honda pulls out of F1 for costs, cuts any RWD, V-8, car for cost reasons, cancels their B.S "teir 1" program, blames the economy, then says they are going green and smart, then has their CEO say the LFA is the "old" way of doing things.... Then they put the money in a car that won't be sold so they can race. :uh::egads: They really need to shut the hell up from the CEO to fanbois. Its more embarrassing than ever. |

Must say I'm a fan now, although it saddens me knowing that something this awesome is not going to be produced. |
