2010 Ward's 10 Best Engines
 

Hmmm, most are now small engines. I will say I am biased and feel the Lexus DI 3.5 should be on there.

Well the Lexus DI 3.5 V6 was on the Ward's 10 Best Engines list for 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009...similarly the BMW 3.0 I6 was on the list for the same period, and both have now been replaced on the list with different kinds of engines (hybrid, diesel). Also notable was the Lexus 4.0 V8 which was on for 3 consecutive years in the late 90's.

I agree, the Lexus 3.5 DI engine is still one of the best when you looking at the numbers. I guess there is only so much room for the top 10 and everyone of those engines deserve to be on that list.

Hyundai's TAU is really a nice engine. If only they could shoehorn it into a Genesis Coupe... that thing would be hella fast.

I agree. Although the engine was on this list a few years ago, I feel everyone has forgot about it now. The Lexus DI 3.5 is an amazing engine, with an incredible amount of torque 277lb-ft. Infiniti's 3.5 and 3.7, GMs 3.6 don't get anywhere near the torque.

3.5l is going nowhere, dont worry :). What a wonderful engine, goes like blast, spends little fuel. New engines deserve merit though.

Agreed. Only 10 slots exist on this list, in alphabetical order.

I'm surprised to see no hondas on the list.

As I've stated for a long time, the "engine" company has some pretty lackluster engines. I can't think of one best in class for anything? :uh:

No surprise since this list is meant to be best engines today (labeled "2010"), not of the past.

The 2010 Hyundai Genesis equipped with a Tau V8 engine still will achieve up to 25 miles per gallon on the highway, surpassing many key competitors' V6 models in fuel economy as well as power.

I've never driven the Genesis but I remember reading that the Genesis 4.6 feels sluggish and lifeless when compared to the GS350. Good for them to win the award (again) though.

There is also review that the V8 genesis is not that muck quicker than the V6. Maybe its just de-tune as in the LS460's V8. The engine can do much more if they put it in a lighter car with different a transmssion, throttle map and geat ratio.

True.The Genesis doing low 14's in the 1/4 mile is pretty bad for a car that size with 375 HP.
A GS 350 is faster.
The use of recommended 87 octane may hurt that time a bit.
