Buggatti Veyron Can Fly! But It Can't FLOAT...!
Wow... Just wow! More Bread than Brains yet again. :tsk:
The two-seater, with 16 cylinders and four turbo chargers, can reach speeds of more than 250 mph. New models sell for about $2 million. The man, who refused to give his name, was looking at real estate in Galveston. About 3 p.m. a low-flying pelican distracted him as he traveled north on Interstate 45 just south of the hurricane levee near Omega Bay. The man jerked the wheel, dropped his cell phone, and the car's front tire left the frontage road and entered a muddy patch, which foiled his attempt to maneuver away from the lagoon. The Veyron's powerful engine gurgled like an outboard motor for about 15 minutes before it died. |
Driving 242mph and trying to "take-in" the scenery at the same time is a bad idea. Hahaha....
|
Driving with cell-phone...no-no.

That's a travesty! |

|

Update and video clip of the crash:
http://www.khou.com/news/Police-iden...-69998852.html Owner claims he was "distracted by a pelican". Note the video shows no pelican. Car was totaled and will go to auction. A nice refreshing dip in a salt marsh means a frame-off restoration before this car is worth anything. That, or a quick hose-down and flush before the corrodamonster moves in and a quick trip to the auction block. Hopefully there is still ONE car nut in the world who hasn't seen the video. |
dunno if this is conclusive or not:

The driver claims now to have dropped his phone and was searching on the floor for it when he ran off the road. Fortunately his company specializes in restoring wrecked exotics, so he's going to have a nice project ahead of him. I'm not quite sure which would do more damage to that car, the lake, or a crew of yard apes in his Lufkin shop.

if his own company can restore it (maybe) and he has insurance, does this mean his own company just got a huge piece of new business? :D

ooooh! Can anyone smell insurance scam? Ol' Ettore must be spinning in his grave about now.
Incidentally, that stretch of I-45 just north of the Galveston Causeway, south of Bayou Vista, fronts a shallow salt marsh (seen above at high tide) for about a mile +. Running off into the swamp was a whole lot safer than taking out a row of fence posts or punching a hole in one of the local businesses almost anywhere else on the route. |
