seems like these driving events are getting popular with manufacturers who are bringing an all new model to the market.

These are good marketing tools to get different crowds into their showrooms. I once did one of these that Motor Trend and Cadillac put together. It was a little different because they let you drive different makes side by side. One comparo was a STS/7 series and a Lexus LS. Going into it, my perception of Cadi's were they were just big boats. It quickly changed after the drive.

If you ask me, nothing is more powerful than inviting the public out to an even to drive your new models. It's marketing at its best.

I got to participate in a marketing focus group where we drove the car while commenting about what we liked and disliked. It was even better than a driving event IMHO.

And they PAID me to do it.

all of the auto makers are catching on and I am sure we will be seeing more and more of this in the future. Its one thing to drive te car around the block vs flogging the thing on a track
