The RX is a crossover, while the ML is not...also the ML hasn't been Mercedes' shining light so far as quality, remember the stats showing "a 5-year old Lexus has fewer problems than a brand-new ML" ...hopefully with this new model they will change that.

ML is not truck-based, it's unibody construction and the GL, RL are derived from it. It is not body on frame like truck based Yukon, GX, 4 Runner.

Yes, ML 2nd generation has much better reliability than 1st generation, but nowhere near the level of reliability of any Lexus. A brand new model will probably fix that problem, since it will be a completely new design like the 2008 C-class with the proper reliability engineering and testing done before production (wow, what a concept).

Thx for the correction, anyhow what I meant was the RX is a crossover, more car-like, which explains in part its popularity IMO.

I recently saw a AMG M take off from a light at what seemed like full throttle and I was what was left floored. I could not believe how fast that big *** truck took off. It sounded like a beast

no matter how lame RX looks, it still gets my respect due to these type numbers...

Benchmarks of it's Class (IMO)
MB S550
MB E-class
BMW 3-series
Lexus RX350

The first gen ML was truck based. They changed to unibody after seeing the success of the RX. I think sadly the **** poor quality of the first gen was so bad its totally scared people away from the current ML which is a much better vehicle.

I predict a 560hp ML63 AMG under hood to take out the X5M & Porshe Cayenne Turbo..
