McCain, Obama agree on one issue: Buying Ford hybrids

Sen. John McCain couldn't have disagreed more with Barack Obama in last year's presidential contest on issues ranging from the Iraq war to energy policy. But now the Arizona Republican and Democratic president have found common ground on at least one issue: Ford hybrids.

McCain took delivery yesterday of a silver Ford Fusion Hybrid, displacing a 2004 Cadillac CTS. He ordered it with the optional navigation system - a nice consolation prize if you aren't the one who gets the White House Map Room. It also has Ford's fancy dashboard display in which leaves appear on a digital tree when you ease off the accelerator and drive more "green."
He bought the car through Ourisman Ford Lincoln Mercury in Alexandria, Va., and had the new car delivered to the Capitol. Like any proud new car owner, he immediately showed it off to a friend: Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C. The Associated Press quoted an unnamed McCain spokeswoman as saying the senator was "sold when he left the parking lot." Fusion Hybrid gets 41 miles per gallon in city driving; 36 mpg on the highway. McCain tweeted about his car decision on Monday. The price starts at about Mccainbarackpg-horizontal $27,000.
It was only last month that Obama gave a shout out to Ford CEO Alan Mulally as he signed a bill into a law that will have the effect of raising gas mileage standards, boasting that his own Ford Hybrid is still back in Chicago. Now it's Obama who is riding around Washington in the Cadillac.

He made a wise choice. I reviewed one several weeks ago and had a very high opinion of it.
Now he has to get Cindy a new Miata, though her bank account is probably 10 times his.

The frd hybrids are supposed to be top notch amongst the competiton, but I wish McCain would go the hell away. Him and his retarded running mate. They lost so their opinions mean zero to most of us now.
