A modified Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG fitted with an extremely loud Akrapovic exhaust system was recently filmed doing some revs and accelerations during the Gran Turismo Events track day at the Nürburgring race circuit.

The SLS AMG is powered by a 6.3-liter V8 engine, generating 420 kW (571 hp) and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque. The unit works with a seven-speed double clutch transmission, accelerating the SLS from 0 to 100 km/h (0-60 mph) in 3.8 seconds, before topping out at 317 km/h (197 mph).

DD Customs has introduced a new styling program for the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG.
The German sports coupe that is in its final days of life and is available as a Final Edition modification has received a stylish body kit. The package includes a new front spoiler, side skirts and a rear bumper with an integrated diffuser. A set of Corniche Sports wheels combined with Michelin Pilot Sport tyres, sized 265/30R20 and 295/25R21 respectively, complete the vision.

Other goodies include a custom coilover suspension system from KW and the KW Hydraulic Lift System, offering a brief increase of the vehicle's ground clearance by up to 40mm at the push of a button. The tuning company says “this makes speed bumps, uneven roads, construction sites and the entrance for underground parking garages less horrifying”.

DD Customs has left the 6.2-liter V8 unit of the car in serial form, except the exhaust system that has been replaced. The car still has 571 PS (420 kW) at 6800 rpm and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque at 4750 rpm under the hood and a 7-speed DCT transmission.

Event kicks off on Thursday

Mercedes is gearing up for the Goodwood Festival of Speed by releasing a new video featuring David Coulthard and the SLS AMG Black Series.

In the clip, Coulthard highlights the famous driveway which will played host to hundreds of racers and cars. While he takes it relatively easy in the video, the course record was set in 1999 by Nick Heidfeld who posted a time of 41.6 seconds.

As a refresher, the SLS AMG Black Series has a 6.2-liter V8 engine that produces 622 bhp (464 kW) and 468 lb-ft (634 Nm) of torque. It is connected to a seven-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT dual-clutch transmission which enables the 3,417 lb (1,550 kg) coupe to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds and hit a top speed of 196 mph (315 km/h).

Engine still worked

A brand new Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG fell off the transporter ship on its way to delivery from Germany to Argentina.

The incident happened in June 2013 but only now images with the damaged SLS were published by Argentinian media. After paying Mercedes-Benz the equivalent of 710,000 USD for a white SLS AMG, a man patiently waited for his car to be delivered but unfortunately never got it as something went horrible wrong during transportation.

Three containers fell off from a cargo ship in the waters of Rio de la Plata near Port of Ensenada in Buenos Aires and in one of them was the supercar. It was only after five days the rescue team managed to retrieve the SLS AMG but it was too late for the high-end vehicle. It spent five days in the sun getting dried and they even managed to start the engine but water caused lots of damages to the electrical systems and as a consequence the car was declared a total loss by the insurance company. The supercar was transported back to Germany where it was dismantled.

Optional carbon fiber parts available

American tuner Misha Designs has sent us a batch of images with their new body kit for the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG.

Gone but certainly not forgotten, the mighty SLS AMG has been rejuvenated by LA-based aftermarket specialists Misha Designs who have come up with a comprehensive body kit encompassing a custom front bumper with larger vents while the added hood piece boasts two vent covers on each side. Also noticeable are the side vent covers mirroring those on the hood, new matte black side skirts and a different rear bumper hosting a more aggressive diffuser. A rear spoiler lip has also been developed but hasn't been fitted onto this car.

To shave off weight, many of the body parts are optionally available at an additional cost in carbon fiber, such as the front bumper lip, hood vents, side skirts, side vents, wing blade and diffuser. This particular SLS AMG was built and painted by JC Customz and rides on 21-inch ADV.1 Wheels.

Japanese tuner Office-K is good at turning heads to the point where they nearly twist off. This beautiful Mercedes-Benz SLS Roadster is quite the looker, but it's those wheels that we can't take our eyes off.

The last time we've admired their work was back in December when they took a Lamborghini Aventador LP700 Roadster and strapped on some Novitec Torado bits in order to create this thing.

Sure, that's one way to stand out, but what about something a little more.. classy? Even though we can't decide if what we're looking at here is a 'classy' car, it's not hard to imagine taking an SLS and keeping the mods down to a minimum - it already has lots of retro Mercedes-Benz features.

However, you can always make it meaner, right? And by that we mean wider and lower to the ground. Which is what they did when they applied this custom body kit (called Jetstream) consisting of a revised front fascia, rear fascia, new air intakes, extended side skirts and set of Forgiato wheels that will light your pants on fire.

These could be the most menacing-looking rims we've ever seen, despite the fact that they look impossible to drive. And by that we mean impossible to live with. Unless you live in a bubble where the streets are always perfect and you never run the risk of ruining them.
