if you want the car as a daily driver go with the gs300 you can get 200k easy with proper mantance i have not heard of a 400 going over 200k you have think the 400 is no race car if your lookin for some thing fast get a vette

gs400 with over 300k miles. seriously, 200k is nothing on any of the lexus models at all.

imho, for pretty much the same money, there is no reason not to get the gs400. considerably faster (and i consider the gs300 pretty slow) and you don't sacrifice anything including gas mileage

I agree. Unless you plan on going NA-T or 2JZ-GTE, the GS400/430 is a great choice. The 1UZ-FE V8 its based on is a work horse for Toyota. You even see versions of it in their trucks. This engine has been around since at least 1989 I believe and tweaked accordingly as the years went by. The V8 engine and trans is one of the last things I would worry about in the GS/LS.

any reason why the ES300? To me the ES has nothing of an advantage over the GS. Its FWD, slower, smaller and looks like a camry. I have a GS300 and like everyone said get the 430 if you can or the 400. Its a shame we didnt get the 2gen GS with a V8 in Australia.
