Finally Acura can be taken seriously. Should be interesting!

so basically it gets the engine from the TL. now there is absolutely no reason to by the TL

More back seat room and extra ugly body might be a couple of reasons.....:)

wow... they gave in lol. It's better that they put the V6 in rather than the turbo-4 from the RDX. It's smoother, no turbo lag and almost the same fuel economy.

Oh boy another reason not to buy a TL. Wonder how it's performance will stack up with the rest of the competition. I honestly find the TSX to be the most attractive Acura out right now too.

3.5L V6..how predictable of Honda to throw in the J35:p

Funny how the 2.3L I4 wont fit but a 3.5L V6 will. From a tuner's standpoint, the I4 turbo would have been wonderful. But a 3.5L V6 is MUCH better than the dinky 2.4L I4. The TSX has grown on me and this V6 option is pretty awesome.

Just thought of something...no SH-AWD. This car may experience traction problems with having all that power to the front wheel..

I'm already scared thinking about msrp on this puppy.

TSX is, IMO, the most attractive of the Acura brood. Too bad it doesn't have SHAWD because 280 hp to the front wheels in something that small might not be a great formula.

I actually saw a new RL that was black with a deep tint and it really looked pretty good. The front looks better in person than in pictures.

TL still looks like a shovel that someone tried to jam into a pencil sharpener.

ExTrEmE99 02-11-09 07:26 PM

I think the TSX kills the new TL in styling! I would take the new TSX over the new TL anyday... BUT over the 2IS, i'd rather keep my IS :D

LexFather 02-11-09 07:36 PM

This is simply a quick fix for the failure of the TL and a way to keep Acura shoppers. The TSX is the best looking of the worst and thats not saying much. The TSX was already front heavy, this won't help. Got to love the tacky V-6 badge. FWD= me don't care. There are WAY to many good RWD sedans only a few thousand more.

No manual either. Is Honda/Acura even TRYING? No diesel. No Sh-AWD?

Then there is WAY to much product overlap. Accord/TSX/TL all have the same engine, power, near same interiors, exteriors and size.

In a complete reversal, the TSX seems to be the new volume seller and the TL they have decided won't sell. Amazing reversal of strategy. I have to say in this economic climate this is a good move b/c it will continue to undercut everyone in price.

.

Fixed ;). The RL is right in step with the TL...in some dimensions I think the TL is actually a bit larger.

RXSF 02-11-09 07:52 PM

ehh i wouldnt worry about the 280 horses, the ES350 has 270; they are pretty much even

TwiBlueG35 02-11-09 07:57 PM

No need for the existence of TL.

leedogg 02-11-09 08:25 PM

This isnt really surprising considering the TSX is the only one in the lineup that doesnt look hideous. With the size and power factored in, this is where the TL should have been positioned anyway.

I want to see a 350 hp TL with RWD. I LOVE honda. Its what I grew up on when I was a kid, but for gods sake what is the deal with the constant love affair with FWD cars. When they finally break from the damn fwd for the first time other than the S2K they make it a even heavier AWD. Come on Honda give the enthusiasts some real platforms for the track. Not saying that you cant make a FWD car that will spank a rwd car ( Real Time Acura race cars), but the handling seems so much more natural, free of torque steer, and the dreaded understeer
