After reading his review, it seems like the senseless HP/torque race has gotten to the point where even he is getting concerned about it.

Even CAR picked the X6 over the RS6 for its car of the year test :(

The new RS6 is nice, but I like the old one better, because it has fast spooling turbos that are easy to get more power out of. The new one with the V10 it is hard to get any more power out of. I also like the idea of fast wagons, they can be used as pratical day to day cars, but have power and make perfect sleepers. I really like the E55 AMG and B5 RS4 as perfect fast wagons

This might be true regarding spool time, but Audi's are notorious for being easy to tune, and companies like GIAC, Revo, and APR will make short work of turbo lag and make that RS6 a complete M, AMG killing monster!!!!

Guys guys guys!!! Its a station wagon. I dont care if it has 1200 hp and will dust a veyron. Its a station wagon. Its for mom or dad to take the family to nurbugring. Or if mom wants to race for pinks leaving the school parking lot. TTV10 in a station wagon. Thats like putting saber teeth on a lamb. lol. kind of strange.:uh:

I didn't have to go quite that far.....to Albania. There's a Smart dealer just a couple of miles from my front door...in VA. I reviewed one last February.

I won't necessarily defend Clarkson, as I don't care much for his review style and writing either, but in all fairness, it has to be noted that he lives and drives in a part of the world where people have to pay through the nose for fuel.....owning and driving a car like the RS6 with a twin turbo V10 under those conditions is like flying an F-15 Strike Eagle out of a general-aviation airport.

And regardless of what one may think of him personally or his writing style, he does have a point about the senseless HP/torque race......where is it going to stop? Pretty soon, the street cars you DRIVE to the race track to watch a race will be higher-performance than the cars on the track itself. Ludicrous.
