Have you driven an LS460? I would like to you to compare the phantom to it if possible, especially in the area of quietness and build quality.
I have not driven the LS460 just the LS430, I would like to drive a LS460 since I have driven most of the luxury cars in this class. The Phantom build quality & quietness was a good as I have experienced probably the best.
Keep us posted what you think I am a member of the Rolls Royce Owners Club though I mainly go for the Crewe built ones . I heard to much trouble with the BMW ones. I got that from a ex mechanic at the RR dealer. He still works on Crewe built privately.
I was very impressed, I have driven the entire 2003 line of RR & Bently and the Phantom seemed to have better build quality in every area especially the exterior paint & sheetmetal of this black example with 21" wheels. And I like the look of the previous body style better. On my admittedly short test drive I could not detect any imperfections whatsoever, & my drive included the Emerald Bay hills & speedbreakers. The owner described it as "rolling arcitecture" & I think that is a great phrase.
Is the setup of the interior leaning towards chauffeur-driven or personal driver?
Of course tell us of any little details or unique things that you find on the Phantom.
It's pretty easy to drive but the door sills, fenders, grill, etc. are so high that visability for curbs is tough, the exterior is oversized & the interior is small, very cozy for 5 people. It's all about the look so driving or being driven it is all about style inside & out. (no duplicate controls in rear seat)
Details that stood out: Clock in center of dash swivels around to become the Navi screen automatically & silently , the traditional A/C vent spheres of solid chrome the size & weight of a billiard ball, solid chrome stalks for seat control & mirrors, center caps stay upright while wheels spin.
tell us if it is everything we have (or i have) ever dreamed off. its my perfect car, floaty suspension, lots of wood and leather, smooth pickup, and extremely quite, no sportyness what so ever haha
drove the RR again last night, really drives well, suspension is really nice, handles very well, owners manual claims 0-60 in 5.7 which is probably conservative estimate. The control stalks on the column are the smoothest most precise by far I have ever used. The back seat is like a couch with the most beautiful leather I have ever seen
Its a great car. World class, but why does the dash look so plain to me. Its covered in wodd, but looks old school. Nothinh really modern in the design like you see in the Aston martins
If you ever get a chance, drive a bentley arnage for me, now thats something i want ha
I have driven the 2003 model it is simular but the new model obviously benefits from the years of refinement, tighter, more integrated interior parts & layout. The Arnage T was my favorite
I drove my best friends fathers Bently Arnage muliner . Rare bird. It was awesome. 150% luxury. amazing pull in a straight line. I didnt dare to try and corner hard. His dad also has Rolls royces and I am not as impressed by them, other than the price and the inerior details.
