Lincoln MKZ
To me, the MKS, MKZ, MKX thing is very confusing.
yea i see adds for the MK[whatever] and i'm curious enough that i might to take a look and maybe play in one a little (i can't relaistically see my self buying one unless it floored me tho)
has anyone driven one? [1sick? mmarshall?] & can some1 who's sure straighten out which car is which? lol

The Lincoln MKS is BIG, its as big as a LS/S/7 series. It has FWD or AWD and a V-6 only like the Acura TL/RL so I see those 3 as competition.
I have yet to drive one but hopefully will soon. Reviews have been fair, its not quick, the interior is well built and it has pretty decent styling.
Overall nothing to get blown away by unless you are a loyal Lincoln customer.

To differentiate the two cars (you seem to be confused by which is which), the smaller MKZ (formerly the Lincoln Zephyr) is a mid-size 4-door sedan based on the same platform as the Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan. The Fusion and Milan come with 4 and V6 powerplants and FWD or AWD. (AWD models are V6 only). The MKS also comes in FWD/AWD, but, I believe, offers only the V6.
The somewhat larger MKS, Lincoln's new 4-soor sedan flagship, is based on the larger Ford Taurus/Mercury Sable platform, formerly named the Five Hundred/Montego. (by today's standards, full-sized), which offers a V6 with FWD or AWD. The Lincoln version of this platform, the MKS, also offers FWD or AWD, and a slightly revised version of the V6. The old Town Car, Lincoln's former flagship, is now restricted to fleet and limo sales.
All of these cars seem to be at least fairly well-built, and are on my recommended list if you want an American-nameplate sedan. In addition, the FWD Fusion/Milan/MKZ triplets have a well-above-average reliability record according to Consumer Reports; and average reliability for AWD versions.
(Just my guess, but when you see the interiors on the Lincoln versions, I think you will prefer those interiors to the more mundane Ford/Mercury versions, but, of course, the Lincolns cost more).
One last thing. Do not expect either the MKS or MKZ to ride or handle like Town Cars, or have the same towing capacity....they DON'T. Both have firmer, more responsive suspensions/tires, and you will feel bumps more than in the pillow-like Town Car. But, to compensate, you have better handling than the Town Car, and will have better foul-weather traction in either the FWD or AWD versions.
