Default Worlds fastest production car 253 miles per hour

http://www.flixxy.com/bugatti-veyron.htm

Check this site out 253 miles per hour or 407 km per hour
on a production bugatti car with 1010 hp. Really cool lowering suspension.

The Bugatti was never "officially" the fastest car. The Shelby is Official. Dont know how they determine that, but that's what I've read. Either way, they're both FAST.

I still don't see how we have not made more than 1 mph improvement on the top speed record for production car over the last 20 years. In 1988 I remember Car and Driver reviewing the Calloway Corvette as the fastest car in the world and it STILL does the same speed as the fastest cars in the world 20 years later.

http://www.fastcoolcars.com/callaway_sledgehammer.htm

0-60 mph: 3.9 sec
0-100 mph: 9.4 sec
Quarter Mile: 10.6 sec @ 127 mph
Skidpad: .98g
Top Speed: 254.76 mph
Braking, 60-0 mph: 122 ft
Slalom Speed: 65.6 mph

Engine
Type: Twin-Turbo V8
Displacement: 5733 cc
Horsepower: 880 bhp @ 6250 rpm
Torque: 772 lb-ft @ --- rpm

.....and it still costs about the same to hit that mark too.

Price: $400,000
Miles Per Gallon: 10/19 mpg
Curb Weight: 3671 lbs
Layout: Front-Engine/RWD
Transmission: 6-Speed Manual
Front tires: 275/40/17
Rear tires: 275/40/17

Nice interview with the manufacturer, a walkaround, and a test drive of the Shelby (no relation to Carroll) . . .

Might wanna do some homework, Callaway is recognized as a factory production car with it's own VIN numbers.

I think there may be a question about top speed verses a maximum speed that can be driven for a sustained amount of time. I know the ZR-1 Corvettes that were built with a partnership between Chevy & Mercury marine motors set records for high speed endurance
