I finally gave up on Lexus
Like and e93!!!! or if your gonna wait, the IS hardtop whenever it comes out. Im probably gonna sell my e93 for the IS hardtop, whenever it comes out ...4 years?
I think Lexus' biggest mistake in the SC430 was naming it that...it's not a "Sports Car" or a "Sports Couple"; it's a Luxury Tourer. And, for 2002, it was very luxurious and, for a luxury car, it was pretty sporty and had a decent amount of power.
I'm one of the first to admit that it's BADLY in need of a redesign (you can start by adding the push-button start...you can make room for that by removing the TAPE DECK!). Heck, in the 2008 model, Satellite Radio STILL isn't an option!!!
But, it's not a sports car...and it can't come anywhere near anything with an M or AMG badge. It doesn't have the instant throttle response nor does it have the knife-edge handling. I don't think it was meant to. Look at all the promo pics; they're not of the car screaming around a track. The car is parked in front of a yacht or tooling along a boulevard at sunset.
It is (or was) that kind of car.
So, anyways, back to the topic de jour; I can understand why the OP didn't want to wait any longer. Not only has Lexus not redesigned the SC430 yet, they refuse to even give a definitive comment on if/when it WILL be redesigned. For a while, I thought the reason was that if they announced they were coming out with a new one soon, people wouldn't buy the old one but, considering they're only selling about 19 a month of the "new" ones, what's the difference?
