Default 2009 Production V10 Audi R8 sighted.

Wednesday, 18 June 2008

Written by Dale Lomas

You need to look twice, but here it is: the production-ready Audi R8 powered by a 525bhp 5.2litre V10 engine.

It's the grill that gives it away...

The noise is fairly unmistakeable, of course, but the other tell tale is the intake area under each headlight. Instead of sporting three horizontal slats, the V10 powered version appears to only sport two ...
If we compare the black beastie above with the regular common-or-garden V8-powered R8, you'll see what I mean...

Nice.

I hope they make it stand out a bit more to differentiate it from the regular R8...

The inlets at the side blades look significantly wider as well.

maybe just S8 ... or R8S ... but it is still a VW group product ... so maybe it can have some quirky hard to pronounce name instead

it cant be an S8
because S8 exists already and is a very nice large sedan where Robert DeNiro tried to sell in Analyze That
also used in Ronin

apparently R8 is a much easier car to drive than 911's due to the level of electronic assitance

I really think the R8 platform is the biggest potential threat to the LF-A.
