2009 Acura TSX Test Drive
Go sit in the NEW TSX and see for your self on the size and stuff. They are honest with me about all that stuff. My buddy was just in New Orleans for some stuff with Acura. For now the TL will be the flagship car and what they have been told from Acura is that will be the car. I can see them replacing the TSX old body with another car or coupe maybe. The LEGEND was the size of the TL and was the flagship car and they should have not done away with IMO. A lot of the stuff that is in the RL will now be in the future models of the TL...
I wouldn't pay 33k+ for a TSX and I wonder where the TL is going to fall in place. I wouldn't be surprised if the TL is 45k+ when all is said and done. I just don't see how their current market will justify these changes.
Thanks for the write up......nice job.
I've got a CL request for a new 2009 TSX review, and plan to do one as soon as they are available and ready for test-drives....hopefully next week.
I'll do a full-length review, but you've done a good summary and have given us a good idea of what to expect.
I'm not surprised to hear of the newly economized interior.....that is becoming legion in the auto industry.

Interior photos on acura.com show TPMS that indicates pressure levels of all 4 tires. You don't get that on an IS--shows Acura still addresses the little things. The styling is growing on me, though.
With the Techno Pkg, the website still prices it at $32,060 (plus dest). Say what you want--that's a pretty good price for what you get. Not much more than a fully loaded Accord, Camry or Altima.

I'm skeptical of Honda diesel.
And thats imperial MPG, which breaks down to 32.5 mpg city, 46.1 hwy. My sister's Corolla was good for 32/41 and the gas was a hell of alot cheaper.

The 2.2CTDi Honda Civic is around 22% more economical than the 1.8 V-TEC engine models, delivering around 39mpg around town and 55.4mpg in the combined cycle fuel economy tests. That said, the fuel economy is poor compared to a small engine diesel like the Ford Focus 1.6 tdci.

Its not a bad car but for 32k, I find it very overpriced. One of the old TSXs selling features was a huge value, I don't see it with this model.

However, I cannot believe Acura cannot build hybrids, instead giving us the Euro Accord diesel. The price of diesel has skyrocketed.
I see a bunch of VW fans buying the diesel TSX.
I can understand some of the criticisms but you guys should hold out judgement until you drive one and certainly at least see one in person. Looks a lot different than the pics suggest.
I driven this back to back with such cars as a current 335i and the TSX kills it. The TSX is waaay more comfortable, has better steering, much better ergonomics/interior design, better fuel economy, and will be much more reliable.
Yet, the 3-series will still sell way more units.

Did you say the TSX kills the current 335i? I don't mean to be funny but are you on meds or drugs?

I would hope a NA I-4, 201hp car has better fuel economy then a 300hp turbo I-6 and guess what it ain't that much better at all, maybe 20%. The 335 literally is 2 nearly 3 seconds faster in any acceleration test.
You are rolling your eyes the 3 sells more units. I commend the standard in class. The 3 base price is higher than the TSX loaded and it outsells the TSX 3 sometimes 4 to one (though the 3 has WAY more variants).
My thoughts. Its disgusting to look at in person. The cheap front plastic grill is horrible. The sides have huge fender flares with small wheels. The rear is bad with awful tailights. It simply DOES NOT look like a luxury anything, it looks like an Accord or Civic. They advertise it as a luxury car for 2009 but has a GHEY hood prop (as the RDX). The interior was built very well, IMO, very solid, it could a USDM Accord, they are way to similar. The interior room is much bigger than the previous TSX.
32 grand loaded, no freaking way. New Mazda 6 or Pontiac G8 anyone?
