GT-R (official Spec-V thread) Autoexpres review vid added
The prototype Nissan GT-R V-Spec, wearing the "Victory Specification" designation reserved for the ultra high-performance Nissan GT-R, has been caught lapping the famed Nürburgring at an incredible, if not simply unbelievable, 7:25 per lap. This, according to bystanders trackside. (For comparison, Walter Röhrl lapped the Ring in 7:28 while driving a Porsche Carrera GT in 2004.)
In contrast to the standard Nissan GT-R, that made the run around the 'Ring in 7:38, the GT-R V-Spec has a new front splitter, modified rear spoiler, and different wheels. A more extensive use of carbon fiber has reportedly reduced the weight by upwards of 330 pounds. Of course, Nissan engineers also tweaked the twin-turbo powerplant for another 70 horses... or so.

Those front brakes look gigantic. If true, that means the Spec V lapped one second off the claimed time that an LF-A mule did. Pretty amazing stuff.
The era of Japanese supercar domination seems to be almost upon us.

It may seem odd, but AFAIK Ferrari and Lambo both had record sales for 2007. Also the EPA numbers for the GT-R are actually pretty good, and given the focus that we've seen from Lexus with regards to emissions and fuel economy, I think that even the LF-A with it's performance will achieve decent emissions and fuel economy, just like the IS-F has done.

Unlikely with the LF-A, given that Lexus aims to compete with cars like the Enzo, rather than the GT-R. The Enzo is in another class than a GT-R. As for the NSX, I wouldn't be surprised.

Acura can't even figure out the design for the next NSX.
What the GT-R is doing is astounding.

Alot of people could care less if the gas prices even doubles to $8.50 a gallon... I would never want to drive something I hated... these cars are targeted for higher income people with more disposable income so it will not really affect the targeted people...

Because the GTR v spec wont compete with or eat into LF-A's sales right?

mizuno & crew arent going to be sitting idly by.
the core issue is this: nissan & tuners are JUST getting started with the R35.
mizuno's commented that he's building a new edition every year
in an interview he said that he intends on beating cars like the lf-a, with the next version or two. MCR has said it has at least as much potential from stock as a R34
i want to say the vspec is epic, but what about the vspec2,nismo, stune/rtune, etc? and lets be honest, these are the mild cars. later in the car's life when nissan starts digging a little deeper, what will the nur-spec be like...? meanwhile, tuner work will be picking up pace....in 4mths mine's has come up with another 100hp and revised suspensions/brakes/etc on light tuning and has claimed (with video) a 5sec/lap reduction on a one minute track.
at the end of the day 725 is unofficial and even if the gt-r ran it, who knows what the production vspec will run. either way, with other cars like the gt2/lfa/zr1, not to mention the competition in the $50-60k range, its a good time to be a car enthusiast, no matter what your tastes

The best part is that people will FINALLY stop comparing it to cars that haven't come out yet. "Yeah, well the ZR1, LF-A, GT2, NSX, blah blah blah will be faster." Well, it isn't so can we move on now
