I don't own one... but my cousin owns a Saleen S7 TT... which is pretty fast... tops out at upwards of almost 230 mph... Actually many people you wouldn't expect own expensive cars like such... just depends... some of these people only make figures of upwards of 200k-300k a year.. but just don't have families or big families like of 7-9 people to have to fork over the money so they can indulge... I just hope I can start a car collection when I finish college ^_^

You think an IS-F is even capable of pushing that far? Or dare I say, the IS250?

Well you would but it would be highly aerodynamically unstable due to the obvious... but take a tt v6-v12 true sports car it wouldn't be hard as many tuning companies have shown...

while almost anything is possible if you have enough money to throw at it. i think the better question is why?

that's because McLaren didnt become involved with mercedes "officially" until the mid 90's

before that they weren't tied down to any single manufacturer, running Honda, Ford, and Peugot motors. Even testing with a Lamborghini motor!

Just remembered the XJ220 with a 3.5L twin turbo achieved 217mph in Nardo in 1992 with only 550hp. It's amazing cars of today (SSC TT) require 6.3L twin turbo and double the hourse power to achieve 40mph more.

the higher the speed, the more power is needed to reach it. i know theres a curve where the car needs a huge amount more power to reach that higher speed.

But Mclaren F1 can get to 240 with only 627...
Aerodynamics plays a big role on the cars... I wonder how much drive train loss is with those cars?

this maybe true, but if a remember correctly from Top Gear, the Veyron needed something like 200 bhp for the last 30 mph. something like that, but basically it will take more power to squeeze the last mph out.

not to mention Mclaren F1 has a N/A engine! it was king of the road for so long hence it being my fav car in the world.

just imagine we slap 2 turbos in it, i bet it could easily beat any cars these days.

any car can have over 1000hp with quad turbos.. psst.. pointless..

heck, if we put this on the mclaren, it will outpower a jet

neh, it'll blow up within a second, on second though, neh, it won't have enough exhaust to even make the turbine spin. lol

THe amazing thing is they didn't build the F1 to take any top speed record. THey just happened to try and see how fast it goes and voila 242mph....

THey said if they changed the gearing it could have went faster.
