Alpina B7, Audi S8, or Mercedes S63/600/65. Pretty much the only "downsides" to the Alpina and Audi are that they are SWB in those forms.

well.....the thing is that I can not ask him what he wants because this is kind of a surprise thing plus if I told him that I am getting him a car again for his birthday he would be pissed but if I bought it he can not say anything....haha, and I would not get him a R8 or Cayman since he already has a almost brand new 911 Turbo sitting in the garage of his......I personally think the S65 AMG is a very nice machine, but the LS600h is also nice....very hard choice......hmm

Ah, I'd go for a the LS600h then. My reason is he already has his fun sports car, so he really doesn't need the AMG power of the S65 as its still no sports car, so you might as well go with the hybrid and have some fun with that for a few years.

S65 is crazy, ridiculous, powerful machine. The only problem with it, its not faster than S55, because it simply cant get traction. It needs AWD badly.

Considering your dad's age, you shouldn't be well over 30 years of age. How successful and what a nice son/daughter you are? Make me feel so ashamed of myself as I am 30 years old and still hasn't bought my parents any presents ever.......well as far as your car choice go, I would say Lexus LS460L, Mercedes-Benz S550, or BMW 550i. I would eliminate all SUVs since your father is used to driving cars. Another suggestion I would give is Maserati Granturismo, very rare and good looking.

Looking at the numbers in between the LS600h and the S8 I say go for the LS. Definately a unique car that you can look good driving. I saw one on the road for the first time the other day and it sounded great and the LED headlights are awesome.

Anyway: S8 = 13/19 mpg. 600h = 20-22 mpg.
Smog output, S8 = 12.2 tons of CO2 a year. 600h = 8.7 tons of CO2.

Thats a pretty considerable difference. My mom and dad really enjoy running on electric power. So quiet and smooth. Looking forward to test driving the GS450h next spring when the lease is up on my dad's 3 series. Can't get enough of those electric motors.

I hardly see any in Indiana...I see one about every 3months. I saw one last weekend so I asked the owner why there aren't many around here but it's because the lack of the dealership.

Tom Wood Audi/Porsche had a nice Cayenne GTS and a S8. My friend just bought a S65 and he said it's insane.

haha that was funny.

I would say go for the Lexus or Audi.

Lexus L series are great cars and with great reviews. Not to mention the comfort and all the tech.

Here is another thought....buy him the LS and you can drive him around for the day with him sitting in the back seat drinking some champagne while getting nice massage from the executive seat.
